I need to pull the boot apart to install the actuator for the VSS muffler I bought from Chasta.. Lining this up as a pre-Christmas bludge day project...

Whilst I am mucking about in that part of the car, what the hell, how about some cheap Chinese eBay parking sensors...

Questions...

  1. Is there a feed to the reversing lights somewhere in the boot area, rather than having to get into the tailgate to pick up the feed?
  2. What wire do I cut to disable the reversing alarm, as I think I am know old enough to know if the car is in reverse or not...
  3. Black sensors fitted in the bumper, or silver sensors fitted in the "bumper panel" mounted on the boot lid?

Think that is it for now...

Thanks for looking.

1. The wiring would go down one side or the other, but by the time you chase it back from the lights you'd have already had it connected. Unless someone else happens to know exact colour/s etc

2. From what I've read it's part of CAN-Bus so can't just be 'cut', unfortunately.

3. I'd go lower down for better visual appearance (IMO) & ease of access for wiring.

Post some pics when done, yeah?

1) You can access the reverse wiring at the top of the boot lip behind the plastic pannel in the middle of the roof. It pulls out quite easily. From memory it comes from the drivers side of the car so probably runs from the front of the car down the drivers side.

2) I think that you will find this hard to disable.

3) fit the sensors to the bumper.

Good luck.
