Hey,

Looking for some help regarding wheel alignment setup for my r32 gtr track car. I know i will be limited due to still running street tyres atm (Advan AD08 255/40/17)

Car is running the follow suspension gear:

FRONT:

Nismo circuit pro-link setup (replace all standard control arms)

ARC adjustable swaybar

Quantum Coilover with swift springs (10kg/mm)

REAR:

Ikea Formula Full rear suspension arms (fully adjustable)

ARC adjustable swaybar

Quantum Coilover with swift springs (8kg/mm)

HICAS Removed

I know i will be limited to adjustment at the front due to the nismo arms being fix, however could someone give me some spec of what i should be aiming for front and rear?

My aim is to get -3 degree camber at the front and 4-5 degree of castor if the nismo arms allow it. However i am unsure on what toe to run front and rear and what camber on the rear? is -1.5 too much?

Slightly different! I have a Stagea and run slicks on the track - front castor 6 deg camber 3deg (max Cusco arms will allow) toe in zero Rear 2.5 deg camber toe in zero. Probably more camber than ideal for the street but CBF getting a wheel alignment before and after every track day. It actually drivesok on the street and tyre wear is also not bad.

front castor 6 deg camber 3deg toe in zero... Rear 2.5 deg camber toe in zero. Probably more camber than ideal ... drivesok on the street and tyre wear is also not bad.

Bit of a variation

Try about 1-1.5 neg in the rear.

Toe settings try about +6 F (total), and -4 R (total).

Static settings are one thing, but having someone with enough know-how to setup the rear so that toe change through the range of travel is minimised is worth gold.

It will come down to a bit of trial and error, seeing how responsive you want the chassis, and how the different settings affect tyre wear.

You dont have any means of adjusting the front camber or the castor. So it is what it is. The camber wont be anything like 3 degrees. Castor should be 4 and a bit.

As for the rear run very little neg camber, maybe a degree if you can manage that without fouling the guard. 1.5 is pretty normal. So anything in that range.

A little toe in at the rear (1mm between the two wheels) and toe out at the front ( a couple mm's for the track).

Sway bars will have to be adjusted in relation to the spring rates but basically soft at the front and hard at the rear.

At the end of the day you need to sort the front upper suspension arm to get you some neg camber to help balance the car. The good thing about the Nismo link kit is it fixes the inner link for the upper front arm and stops the thing chewing bushes.

You have really high spring rates in the car so this will limit the roll of the car. On the up side this means you can get away with less neg camber. But none the less you need to sort the front upper arms next.

    • Apologies, while id like to put the MAF as close to the TB and relocate the recirc, this may be too much work. Will most likely end up just putting it on the original AFM spot ( onto/next to the airbox ).  Was going through nistune, found a pretty nifty doc on this. Nistune MAF Notes. Also, i was looking through the bay, and there seems to be a tube/line connected from the A/C to the intercooler piping ( Between the smic and the recirc), what does this do as the crossover fmic piping doesnt have any connection? plumbing? not sure what you call it but the nipple thing ahah.  Also, been reading up more about crossover fmic in regards to the legality of having the hole drilled for the piping, this would most likely need to be engineered right?
    • My advice is if you need a big build done do it in Japan. The yen rate is so favorable and there are shops that can be genuinely trusted and not micromanaged/carefully monitored every step of the way. Garage Yoshida is obviously my preferred option but they're so busy these days and all interaction with new customers has to be mediated through BBL/Toprank now.
    • I haven't....but a poorly made one would terrify me. Surely a good second hand one is the go, as they don't work hard and no-one wants to keep one after they are finished with it A big consideration would be the weight of the shell you are putting on it....is it a fully dressed chassis or just the body
    • Not stock. All remade. Mostly looks stock because the pipes run to and from the standard holes in the inner guard to get to the return flow FMIC. I'm not sure which question you're trying to ask, because it seems like "stock position" vs "stock position".
    • Hey, it's a GT-R, it's just as significant a moment as mine😁 It's not ideal when things are uncertain; I'm the type of person that always has a set plan for things in life so being unsure of this plan puts me in a weird place mentally.
