ausdrift
So I wanna change the LSD oil over, and I got the oil ready. I just looked under the car and have located the upper and lower plugs on the diff, so that looks straight forward enough, but here is what puzzled me. The upper plug is located only about 3-4cm abover the lower one and it really doesnt look like it can hold the 1.5-2L of diff oil that I should be putting in it. Am I missing something here on how to fill it or is it just an illusion and there is nothing to worry about? The Dan
These are not the droids you are looking for. Fill the diff, do a skid :waves hand like Jedi: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/413845-r33-diff-can-it-really-swallow-15-2l-of-oil/#findComment-6628161 Share on other sites

Moodles2
In service manual, GTR rear diff takes 1.5L, people have reported getting 2L in there. A viscous diff from a GTS-t might be different though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/413845-r33-diff-can-it-really-swallow-15-2l-of-oil/#findComment-6628414 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
And a viscous diff does not use LSD oil either. Just plain old diff oil. Birds
So many LSD oils unnecessary placed in viscous units... Additives would be all like..."Hey...what are we even doing here? Turn up to work and they don't even need us. Shit, I could have slept in. I wish I was born a viscosity modifier instead." The Dan
While this is true, LSD oils are usually back compatible with regular diff oils and don't cost any extra for the normal stuff so if you're ever unsure, use LSD oil. I mean, who can really say that everyone is going to know every part fitted to their car in Japan? Some come over with 1.5 way diffs and you wouldn't know if you weren't in the know.
