Out in the R33 on the weekend and car is behaving strangely - seems to be over boosting which is backed up by the stock boost gauge flicking up to over the max. Turbos sound like they are retaining too much boost until it gets to the point where they need to dump a load of excess boost almost like a leak or a last minute fail safe.

Any ideas what I should be checking? Assuming it's wastegate / actuator / vacuum line related and if so what is the best way to check?

Cheers!

If you can get to the wastegate you can try and move to shaft (actuator rod) coming out of it/them (twin turbo DETT?). The shaft's connected to the wastegate diaphragm. See if there's any movement or if it's stuck (if it's stuck open you'd be making no boost though). Best option is to just drive cautiously without planting your foot, don't want to do any damage :/

My first thoughts were it is sticking and staying closed for longer than it should till it's being forced open by too much pressure - bet it's a pain to check on this engine! Was thinking about upgrading the turbos to 2560's so maybe this is a good time....
