driftpigr33
Hey all wondering if anyone has done it? I've got a motor laying around and just found a straight r33 with no motor but no body damage. Has anyone actually done it or know what a rough conversion cost not including motor box and exhaust? Shoota_77
I've always thought this would be an amazing conversion. Insanely good engine. Huge amount of work though, predominantly in getting the sump right. One positive is that they both have an alloy sump so grafting one to the other is theoretically possible. Huge amount of work though presumably..... Just do it and we'll all know! driftpigr33
I've recently stepped out of a 400rwkw xr6 into a near stock skyline and still have the motor and after driving a skyline and enjoying things like the handling would love to combine both world Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-6634336 Share on other sites
zoomzoom
You like the handling, but what is the weight difference between the ford engine and the RB, and how much further will it stick out past the front wheels? bish33
Not sure on how difficult it is but has been done. Just google it and there's a 1000hp xr6t 33 on YouTube bud Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-6634502 Share on other sites
Deano 1
The Barra motor is all alloy isn't it? If so, it would almost b the same weight as the cast iron rb Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-6634570 Share on other sites
Cowboy1600
You like the handling, but what is the weight difference between the ford engine and the RB, and how much further will it stick out past the front wheels? The RB is 15 kgs heavier than the xr motor. That is comparing long engines. 666DAN
The turbo is on the most difficult side, would need a little bit of work around the steering. The engine would definitely be a good dropin for a supra. ISLIDE013
I don't agree with this conversion lol. One of The RBs newest rival on the street. They are good motor though.seen a 9 or 8 second VL with one of these Barra motors in it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-6656398 Share on other sites

Robocop2310
Barra-Zilla? Does have a ring to it but personally I like the RB26DETT more as it has more low end torque she sounds much better too. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-7887582 Share on other sites
r32-25t
There is no way an rb26 has more low end torque then a Barra 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-7887591 Share on other sites

Robocop2310
People say the RB26 looks like a matchbox partially tilted sideways and doesn’t look to powerful compared to larger Ford and Holden engines but there’s something about it that I just adore and love! RB26 has so much torque, like -180nm at 2000rpm than a Golf R Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414146-xr6t-motor-into-an-r33/#findComment-7887902 Share on other sites
