The sump comes up nice with a clear coat huh!

Sure does mate, hopefully should keep it looking fresh for years to come!

Read all 11 pages, build is crazy. You've added and changed so much you could call this a new car.

Amazing on how you've done so much, how did you learn to do it all?

See, I'm good at taking things apart but putting them back together... Well that's another story.

Ha yeah man, should last me a lifetime....well a long time anyway!

Just learn as you go, have the right people around and the old boy being a mechanic (by trade) helps quite a bit...couldn't have done it without him

Couple items arrived today...good day

Hey Robbie, quick question wid da personalised plates. Will they fit at the back?

Haha you know I didn't even think of that! Might have to do up a custom mount or something...

I'll make it work, have to now!!

Also, anyone know if a R33 series 2 air con fan is interchangeable with a bnr32?

If they are anything like the width of a NSW plate (white with black writing, standard width), they require a little bit of a trim (about 6-8mm) to fit between the reverse lights without bending them.

Thats what I did on mine and you cant even tell.

those personalized plates are 2+K and the last thing you want to do is trim them.

I think Robbie will have to remove the reverse lights to make them fit

similar to this (I know its an ADM model but you get the drift)

Nice work. You and Anthony should start a GTR restoring business. Hahaha I'd be your customer when I have some spare cash.

Love the attention to details you guys have and how much effort you've put into planning and learning about the car.

Not to knock you off but why the 444cc injectors? I would think you'll be running the 500s or 600s (maybe Nismo) instead with the -7? With all the work done I think it'll be worth the investment.

Fairy nuff.

See in NSW we dont get those pretty covers with ours either, unless you source some yourself.

Plus if I ever want to sell them, I can always go to the RTA, say the rear plate was damaged and have it replaced and then sell them :ninja:

Also i would think that no reverse lights = defect?

Or could maybe customize the rear indicators.

Change to led but have the reverse lights in led as well incorporated into the indicators.

That way, still keep twin tail lights and remove the lower reverse lights for the plates to fit.

Hey, i might have to patent that and make me some cash on the side to fund my build lol.

Amazing build dude, loving your attention to detail and your willingness to clean and restore absolutely everything.

It is an understatement to say that this car will be a head turner when it's up and running.

Also wanted to ask if you have any more photos of driver side front cv joint repack and install. Did you get genuine nissan boot with bands and grease?

If so, was wondering what tool you used as there are different types to choose from.

Regards

Michael

i was also wondering why you went with 440 cc's when you could have got injector dynamics 2000 cc's which supposedly have the same idle quality as standard? true you would have had to change the fuel rail and possibly beef up the rest of your fuel delivery system but i would think an improved fuel delivery system would be good insurance or platform for future performance mods.

Thanks mate. Haha was actually thinking about that the other day....you never know, will wait until this one is done and see how I feel

Yeah you really have to want it BAD (and have a VERY patient girl) to put as much time and effort in as I have, did 30 hours flat out in the shed on the long weekend alone. Owing this car is something I have dreamed about for years and being a perfectionist is debilitating at times!

444cc injectors because I want to get to know the car in a form that is similar to standard. I am really not doing all this work to achieve pure power, I want a GT-R that is as reliable as possible with sensible power and is an absolute pleasure to drive and as economical as possible. Everything costs a lot with these cars and you have to draw the line sometimes, saying that I do have a brand new set of Nismo 600cc injectors in the cupboard just incase haha

Cheers Michael. Yeah it's a real problem sometimes as I just can't do something unless it's 100% perfect, hopefully it does result in a bnr32 that does them justice

Have not yet done the repack an new boots yet, everything is getting cleaned down and painted at the moment. Yes, genuine nissan boot kits but and they come with everything inc grease.

Not sure what tool you mean sorry...?

Per above man, just want to enjoy it for a while, one day I might go down that path but not yet, it's just more money and time I don't have and just want it finished so I can drive it!

Great build/resto thread.

BNR32 is the only way!

Thanks man, you know it, the one and only, 32R will always reign supreme!

More paint prep

Upon inspection, uni joints are stuffed on both ends. Anyone replaced these or had a driveshaft shop do it? Or bought a complete new unit from Nissan?!

Ready to go

Had originally only acid washed these but thought may as well give them a hit in clear as well

For those aluminium parts, have you considered hydroblasting (hydrablasting) otherwise known as aqua blasting? Brings ally back up like new

Wish I'd known about it when I was doing my Silvia all those years back.

I have never heard of this, thanks mate! Really appreciate it.

You posted this just in time as I am looking for something like this to bring front and rears aluminium knuckles up like new and this looks like the go!!

Ahhh hindsight...it's a motherf**ker!

Got this today and had to share, getting excited now...it's just a sneak peak, more to come soon

Ignore the oil/air sep tank, just dummying it up

I think with the turbo you're running, you'd probably end up putting the 600cc in. Seriously no point with the 444 as mine are slightly lesser than 90% duty on 250awkw.

I have to agree with Brandon. Your not going to miss anything with having the the 600cc. Even after changing mine from stock to 550cc I was on 75-80% duty with only 300rwrkw. Theses cars are thirsty but can be fuel efficient if tuned properly and if you drive it sensibly.
