So my tuner was reluctant to setup antilag on my GTR when he first tuned as he has a few GTRs come back with popped shims.

This is a stock block by the way.

Has anyone else heard of similar issues??

I've got him to set it up now but I 'm not planning on planting my foot down and engaging at every set of lights.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has come across this.

P.S can some explain exactly what a shim is?

This sounds more like a 2 step limiter. Why is there a need for this on street tires and such a small turbo setup, you should be able to get off the line better without it. Either way your oil pump will like you better if you don't use it :D.

Sounds unlikely - not impossible if your experiencing valve float combined with the oil film surface tension between the bucket and the shim. I'm not saying that anti lag causes valve float as it usually active at low rpm where valve float is unlikely to occur.
