Good day,

i wanted to find out if this could work. i bought a front cut and i am moving over most of the r32 parts into the a31. i wanted to know if the brake master cylinder could would in the a31. some differences were noted which i have listed out below

1. the r32 is 1" where the a31 is 7/8.

2. the r32 only has one R & one F line coming out of the cylinder where the A31 has one R and two F lines.

question:

1 could i use a Y splitter to get the two front lines to work on the r32 cylinder?

2. is it worth the effort to switch the cylinders. the r32 is in better condition than mine

thanks

You could use a splitter, but it sounds like the R32 is an ABS master cylinder and your A31 is not, might want to do some research on that one and how it will affect brake bias.

1" and 7/8 are the piston sizes in the BMC, so the R32 has a bigger BMC which is typical for ABS setups.

Changing BMC doesn't do much unless your old one is worn out (the newer better condition BMC will have a firmer pedal).

Some people swear black and blue that larger BMCs (BM44, BM50) vs smaller models (BM38) have a better feel when using bigger calipers (R32/R33), but that's total bulls**t, hydraulics all work the same, pedal feel won't change.

Well if the BM38 Has a smaller piston than the BM50, the pedal will feel different if everything else is the same,

force=area x pressure.

Thats what I found with mine, I went from r33 brakes with BM 38 master (cefiro NA I assume) to r32 master cyl, with the same brakes, and pedal was lighter
