Serpandrew
Couple before and after pics of cleaning up my reverse and fog lights, they were an eyesore looking all old and yellow. Before: After: Came out pretty well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414638-bnr34-reverse-fog-lights/ Share on other sites
JGTC
looks brand new mate, well done, were you able to achieve these results without wet sanding? Mind letting us know on how you did it? Serpandrew
Thanks I did wet sand, although with very fine grade... 1000 then 3000 grit. Used Meguiars PlastX to cut/polish it, then Meguiars plastic UV protectant to seal it up. The UV protectant is actually really hard to source unless you buy that heavy duty headlight restoration kit. Watchamacallit
That looks really good. I may have to do some XMas shopping for the 2nd gf... Where did you source the UV protectant? Serpandrew
Thanks You can either get the Meguiars heavy duty headlight restoration kit which comes with all the stuff you need, costs around $65: http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g3000-heavy-duty-headlight-restoration-kit/ OR you can buy http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g17110-headlight-protectant/ separately I had bits and pieces from various kits with sanding and buffing pads which basically made up the Meguiars kit, you'll end up with the same results if you just buy the kit, you'll be able to use it more than once. If you only want to get the protectant though here it is on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Meguiars-G17110-Headlight-Protectant-10-oz-/140709679655?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c2f35227&vxp=mtr Might be lucky and find it on the shelf at autobarn. You'll definitely find the whole kit there though. (OO)SKYLINE(OO)
Nice! I assume it's brighter, then before, now? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414638-bnr34-reverse-fog-lights/#findComment-6647492 Share on other sites
Serpandrew
Yep, I actually sat my phone down behind the car recording to make sure its all working ok and its much brighter now. Never knew it was so easy to take the lights out until I removed the number plate to clean behind it. I was quite surprised when I found out that the reverse light requires a different wattage bulb to the fog light, they are the same fitment and size otherwise o_O Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414638-bnr34-reverse-fog-lights/#findComment-6647506 Share on other sites
GTR-N1
In NSW early 2013, for Sau Members, there'll be a Tech Night compliments of Meguiar's. Sizeable discounts will be on offer - or just enjoy a free night with the club. Nice work on those lights! When I get soot on these from burning rich, I just wipe up with Malco Banana Wax. It's Nanotech action doesn't affect the UV sealant (whereas polish will).
