you are using brembo decals correct?

are you going to clear coat over them? wondering if the stickers will fall off without a decent clear..

Yep - going to buy a bunch of decals in diff colours to see what works best. Then VHT high temp clear over top. Doubt they'd fall off but they might be a bit more durable against things like wheel cleaner and high pressure hoses.

Mat how painting the brembos going? Keen to see some pics! I might have to go this direction, very temtping but i love the gold too much

Not even started mate - I'd like to get the job done over xmas. But the trouble is I live at a body corporate controlled apartment building which says no car work in the garage - i do small bits n pieces but things like cars on axle stands etc would be pushing it. I usually do work at my parents place in their garage, but they've since painted the floor and made it look schmick - and then told me i'm banned from there

So i'm not sure exactly when this will get done.

I did a bit of research after asking, apparently the VHT clear will make the brembo stickers go yellow in a few weeks :yucky:

a few of the evo guys said dont clear coat, just stick them. hit a couple of hard braking corners, and they will cake(literally melt) onto the calipers..

a few have tested with industrial hi pressure hoses, and still didnt come off lol

Gets wraps for all his wk. (incl courier). User Name on OzFoz = "CRUISN"

Cheery Terry - i did come across his thread when i was searching for color pics. The polished Brembos look AMAZING - but I think even he said so himself that he'd never do another set again haha.

I don't mind doing the work - it's more the logistics of getting the brakes off, dumping the fluids, and re-bleeding when I don't have a permanent garage space that would allow me to do so.

I'm motivated though - this will happen eventually - but I think i might wait for my rims to arrive so i can see the colour with my own eyes - might help me chose the brake caliper colour.

I had a thought Mat, what about sort of a glossy gun metal grey with white brembo stickers? i think that would look nice depending on the colour of wheels but if your after something to stand out it wouldn't be the best idea.

yeh im thinking of doing that or black with white..

dont like the whole brakes that scream look at me, and red will just go pink again

Didn't you drive a fanta orange S15?! :action-smiley-069:

And yeh - not gunmetal.

Brembos deserve some attention!

Just bought BC Coilovers.....so looks like a 'wheels off and car on stands' day in the garage will be happening regardless. Might be a good time to paint.

Red = +15kw

Why not just get the eBay stick on things?

I've heard they don't melt at the track at all.....

    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
    • I just quote the Rolling Stones. Paint it black.
    • It just depends if you're like me with a high level of OCD for doing something like hardlines, and highly critical of the little things, and then bugger all patience to get it how my brain pictures it
    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
