Hi all, I need to source the following parts, and any assistance would be appreciated;

1. Windscreen..are these stocked by conventional suppliers like o'briens, or do I have to go to Nissan? Any idea on prices inc fitting?

2. Rhs coupe window winds down but sticks. Is this likely the regulator motor or actuator? Any way to tell? Any leads on best place to source such parts from?....eBay us I guess?

Cheers,

J

Hi,

I would also like to know about windscreen availability for when the time comes.

But in regards to the window, i would buy a whole new motor, you can do a DIY on it and clean it up and it may come good but it's only a matter of time before it fails again. I would try sourcing them from Japan or eBay, not sure if there would be a difference between the G35 and V35 motor, just as long as you buy the passenger side one if it's off a G35.

I recall from another thread that the G35 and V35 window motors are the same.. As Sean said, just make sure you remember G35 Drivers side is left..

Not sure on the windscreens, but I would be surprised if any windscreen company stocks them.. probably an 'order from Japan/USA' item, or from a wrecker.

yeah - i did some reading on windscreens before i purchased mine. Next to impossible to find. One story in particular of a company saying 'yeh we've got it' - brought the car in, broke the OEM windscreen taking it out - only to find out their 'replacement' did not fit - wrong size by many cms. Customer spent months waiting on a windscreen ex-Japan.

Which is why i decided to include window cover on my insurance policy......

I paid $600 fitted for the windscreen. I replaced the motor and pulleys in the doors myself for $300. Do NOT go to Nissan unless you are rich or into S&M cause that's what you will get. Order the stuff for the doors online. The windscreen was from a local place. Hope that helps.

What was the price?

I'm sure as these cars become more popular this will be less of an issue.

Pretty much your panels, glass and head lights are the only areas of concern when it comes to parts availability. The rest you can just go to your local Nissan dealer and ask for a 350Z part number.

tried 3 mobs - obriens, national windscreens, and instant windscreens. all 3 have email contact facilities, and offer email responses. only one has been bothered (yes, customer service matters to me). price from instant windscreens is $390 inc supply and fit at my premises. silence from obriens (who initially asked for VIN, then no reply) and from national (nothing at all)

given they've been good enough to respond promptly - a good deed in return....anyone wanting their details.....

1300 136 303 (24/7)

National windscreens will have them.

Well, for the time being, that's speculation from my perspective. As they offer an email address but choose not to reply, I can only guess what products they offer, and at what price.

the search continues...but yes, am happy with the $390 from instant

Well, Iamhe77 is right (thanks mate) - National just quoted me $295 for replacement windscreen.

That is, supplied and fitted for a 2004 V35 coupe. Quite surprised really. Pleasantly. Well under Instant at $390 and O'Brien at ...... wait for it ....$1100. O'Brien then asked me to stay on the phone whilst the girl checked with her manager to verify why the difference (I did not ask her to do this) - after 5 minutes of hold music it seemed I was being stooged, so I just hung up.

Summary - national seem great, instant were fine too - keep well away from OBrien.

However, given what I have read above, I will ensure that (and I'll make sure I have witnesses) if they supply the wrong screen (but I asked for confirmation on spec several times) that money is immediately refunded, in which case I go next cab off the rank (which would be instant). If that fails, I'll drive through rain with no screen at all before I give O Brien my money.....

Yes the windscreen is only $295...

But the windscreen mouldings are a special order from Japan and about $400, apparently...

O'Briens replaced mine, guys initially turned up (2 vans), as arranged through Shannons with the correct screen, no tinted strip either but they had warned me, but... They would not install it... The guys said that they would most likely have to break the plastic surround mouldings to get the screen out, and that the generic ones would look rubbish. They rang their call centre to discuss, and collected the VIN number again, both Japanese and AUS versions. The call centre rang back later to see if I knew any Nissan dealers that might help as they got the run arround from the parts departments. Told them to contact Ferntree Gully Nissan and parts were ordered later that day...

5 Weeks later, they rang to say that the parts had arrived and to book and appointment.

One van this time, screen and new moldings installed in a little over an hour, mirror installed correctly and even stuck the eTag holder back on...

Was very happy with the results.

  • 3 years later...

The current discussion on the proposed changes to the import regulations on used motorcars, and especially the negative comment that parts and servicing of same can be a problem, has caused me to wonder about the availability of a windscreen for my V35 coupe. On my recent trip up to Bathurst for the 12hr, the windscreen scored a couple of stings. My research has led me to this thread; I am wondering if anyone out there has anymore recent experience\info that can be added to update this thread please.
