Have to give thumbs up to Marc at Discount Tyres Belconnen, had the car breakdown at the start of the week. Fitted me in, fixed the problem, reasonable charge, and explained exactly what the problem was and how it was fixed.

Great folks - highly helpful and recomended.

These guys also install Sydney Kids suspension kits, do the settings.

From a soarer perspective, Trojan rate very highly in my books. AutoTech dyno tuned her last year, which was a great tune; however, he told us he is cautious and wouldn't run anymore than 15psi unless 600cc injecters were fitted. As a result of the dyno shootout at Jakes Performance, I will be going there to get some tweaking done. For normal servicing/problems though, I go to Neil Griffiths at Rush Imports in Queanbeyan, as he is the soarer/toyota guru of probably the whole of Canberra. Despite my previous 'loyalty' to EVO Motorsport; they lost me when Stu forgot what spark plugs to use in the soarer when he did a minor service awhile ago. Rush wasn't open so he asked EVO and the ones they recommended were totally wrong and left her running rather rough until Neil fixed it.

Does anyone bring their Skyline to Neil??

I used to bring my car (VL) to Neil many many years ago and always found him good...though last time i spoke to him he didnt think much of Skyline drivers

i got a major service at integra automotive in queanbeyan yesturday his a pretty awesome guy to deal with but he used all the expensive shit 4 my car but i wasnt bothered by that to much but i will be going back to him 4 services n repairs

i know this isnt exactly the best place to ask, but im not an uber fan of NS.com

anywho, just wondering if anyone can recommend for a general service on an S13 Sr20det? just need oil changes, intercooler piping cleaned out (has oil in it, and pops off when boosting even after tightening the rings ) and just a general clean up...

do the piping yourself should be easy if it keeps popping off  i found a couple of posts about what to use to clean it up

do the 50/50 mix and block up the end shake around a bit empty, repeat till clean. Then let it dry before putting it back on. Also go buy some decent clamps if they keep coming off.

Servicing anyone should be able to help you out maybe autotech, or trojen if you want to be particular...

Hey Beau, i know what you mean ay, sometimes a bit... strange there.

Anyways, a few options:

- do it yourself, i (or most others here) can show you how

- Most workshops are capable of a general service, still, see if you can find one you're comfortable with. A few people here will be able to recomend you to somewhere good.

yeah im gonna be attempting the oil change meself tomoro, with the sisters BF. shall see how that goes.

thanks for the offer guys, i still need to clean the intercooler piping, and get some stronger ring thingys, and im lost on doing that myself :D

will most probably ask someone to hold my hand while cleaning the piping as i dont wanna f**k it up...

Ill PM Around anyway, Cheers guys!

Big thumbs up to Trojan who did my 100k km service.

Fixed what I wanted and a few other bits and pieces and got a 25% increase in fuel economy with seemingly more power and response.

cheers mate. can you tell me how much it cost? (pm is fine) also i'm assuming they dyno'd it?

They didn't dyno it as they didn't touch the tune at all. Car has been tuned by DTS and Autotech and not overly happy with the job either place did. DTS tune was on the car when I got it and was horrid. Peter at Autotech did a good job ironing out many of the issues but left it running far too rich (which in hindsight may probably caused by the intake/exhaust leaks).

Cost was significantly higher than for a standard 100k km service as I had a lot of labour to get the turbo exhaust gasket replaced. There was also additional costs for a new water pump and other odds and ends that you might not necessarily need replacing.

Final price was $2200 which was a little higher than what I expected. But I do have an itemised bill and all the old parts they replaced to confirm they didn't charge for work not done.

    • Hello all I have 2 r34 sedans , one turbo one na, only recently aquired the na 34.  Man what is with these things.... My turbo 34 started sounding like a super charger, it was screaming at anything above 4000rpm , I took the alternator apart and replaced the front bearing which is the only one I think you can access and it did not fix the issue so presumably the bearing in the rear of the alternator is gone. ( diagnosed it was the alternator by taking off the aux belts one by one to figure out which pulley or bearing it was )  My friend gave me one he had lying around, Installed it , it did not squeal for maybe 500kms and now its started to squeal again briefly on startup  Recently got an na r34 and I replaced the timing belt, water pump + all the auxillirary belts. Runs amazing but it suddenly developed the same squeaking problem but significantly worse, Ive had my neighbour come down screaming at me because it was waking her up everytime I moved the car. It takes a good 2 minutes before it quietens down.  Im yet to diagnose where its coming from but im fairly sure its coming from the alternator aswell. My question isnt about how to fix it but rather where can you get a new alternator for an rb25 neo??? Ive searched everywhere but I havent been able to find a direct fit oem type replacement thats not genuine. All the automotive stores sell an oex one - BXA035 - which I picked up for cheap through a friend with staff discount , got it home only to find the connector is completelty different.... As far as im aware bxa035 is for rb20/30's and after a bit of figuring out the bxa035 has an ev14 type connector, which is tiny compared to the rb25 connector. I actually had an ev14 connector lying around which I was considering just replacing the bigger plug with to get the alternator working but the bxa035 is rated for 70amp vs the rb25 alternators are 90amp ( or so ive been told ? ) That paired along with the fact im about to install an amp + sub in the back and I have the stock sized small battery Im not sure itll do the job unless anyone has another opinion?  I know and have seen all the websites selling the ls1 alternator conversion kit but I am not going down that route, nor do I have the money to. Hopefully I can figure out how to get 2 brand new alternators for both cars. I would buy second hand which there seems to be many of but considering how common this seems to be im sure If I installed a second hand one it would start squealing in no time  Or even better if anyone knows how to fix the issue directly with the alternator itself... Any input appreciated Thank you     Link for bxa035 connector picture
    • As above, replace as many as you can afford. If anything, due to old age.
    • Can confirm previous shop that built my motor had no fking clue about oil control and caused my motor to shit itself after two track days. Current shop, Birrong Automotive, has managed to build me a motor, not to mention, has also let me tune it myself and it has yet to blow up after 7 track days. Great oiling success, yashimash.
    • It definitely seems like you have no beef, with only digging up a 5 year old post, to comment on an inflammatory item with total insensitivity, and of which had nothing to do with the thread.  Yep, you definitely seem like a great person and your friends and family would be so proud to know of your lovely actions
    • Thanks buddy, so happy to be back! Managed to pickup a Unicorn R34 completely stock and clean. Looking forward to adding some goodies to it and posting one here. I'm shocked that so many forums stopped. If you could find my old profile - I'd love that if its possible. My old account was JET200GT. My email might need to be fixed too. To use this one. I think it was the same though..
