Where to get Skyline Serviced

Recommended Posts

My Advice - take it or leave it. IDGAF!

Role of the dice in Canberra and in Australia. That's the good, bad and ugly of it.

If it was a serious option I personally would Ship back to a tuning house/garage in Japland.

Buy a complete new engine package on a pallet if you're looking at a rebuild. It WILL work out cheaper. Add $1500-$2000 for out/in including consumables. Stay close to stock unless you have real money to burn and more money to keep your ride running afterwards. I see so many of the high performers back in the shop time + time again.

Tuning close to Canberra = CRD

Bolt ons = role the dice! I sincerely hope you WIN.

Last piece of advice - you bought a Skyline. Waver too far from stock then have deep pockets................

It never was a car built for the feint hearted or for cheap bastards. That's why Holden built Commonwhores.

Unless you have a 33 :P

Do CRD have any experience with Stagea's?

Hi Hanso, I can't say as I personaly have never seen a Stagea at CRD.

Would also need to know more about what your issue is or what you looking to do and what you have. I count for a single opinion and there is many around about all Jap focused garages.

IMHO

It's about your Nissan Engine and/or Tune work you want done - CRD have alot of Skylines through their shop from RB20's through to RB26's and above ie: 2.8 and RB26/30, single and twin turbo's.

They appear to favour Haltech ECU's, use alot of Nitto stuff and Garret turbos but then again they will work with most other stuff too.

If your looking for just tuneing choose a shop that sells and tunes your type of aftermarket ECU and speak with others who have very recently used the shop your thinking of using. In my experience shops run hot and cold. Some shops are great and then get too much business or change mechs and it turns to custard quickly.

Steering/suspension locally - I wouldn't go pass Chris at Inline in Qbyn.

Local ACT shops

Trojan, Autotech, ESP appear to be the most used by the locals and they can fill you in on their experiences.

Most should or will PM you if you ask what they think about a shop. It's not good ettiquette to rag on a shop in an open forum and wont be tolerated by the Modertors (legal reasons). Plus some people have great experiences and others have $#!% experinces with the same place.

I use CRD as I have a Haltech and they rebuilt my engine.

Cheers mate, I'll check them out when I get settled into my house.

After seeing a black BA falcon with DTS branding in action on the Monaro highway this morning, there is no way I would let someone stupid enough to drive like that in peak hour traffic ever touch one of my cars.

/Rant

I saw one of those clowns in a white falcon in mitchell the other day, looked like someone had taken offence to him and shattered the arse of his car with something bigger and badder

Starting to agree with this, have been f**ked around too many times in canberra, only one place I've taken the car to here that I would consider taking it back to.

I think the amount of cars that go to Sydney to get the majority of their work done now speaks in volumes.

It's a shame but that's how it goes I guess.

+1 for CRD they have been nothing but f**king awesome to me in the past 12 months.

I think lack of competition and lack of experience and knowledge really hurts us down here.

To me though, a quick trip up to Sydney is nothing given the piece of mind I get knowing my car is in good hands. Just means I have to change my own oil these days and save things up for one big visit usually :)

There's a lot of cash spent by Canberra peeps on their performance cars and I'd say we have some really good ones.

One large work shop in Canberra with some quality mechs, good organisation and a top tuner and you'd make millions $$$$$$$$$$$$

Well I've been taking my Skyline to Techworkz in Tuggeranong for a short while now and I can say that the customer service, quality work and know how have been so good that I am now taking all three of our cars back there for regular servicing, maintenance or modifications.

I even had Techworkz do a full rebuild of the V6 in my 4Runner and I couldnt be happier with it... After sales service is awesome too - the engine had a very small leak from the cam cover a week after the build (after a few heat cycles the metal warps a bit) and he replaced the gasket and cleaned the engine for free, all in one day.

I was so impressed with the level of professionalism that I set him up as a Federal Tyres dealer (shameless plug).

I highly recommend Techworkz in Tuggers - Call Mick and have a chat: 6293 2424 :D
