I'm looking to buy a black FMIC, however I'm not too sure what a good brand/quality to look for. The only one I could find from my short search is from just jap Cooling pro stealth series (black edition).

Can anyone verify if this is a good FMIC for my r34 GTT, or can recommend a better one? Looking for one price range between $400-700.

Cheers!

Define "good kit". The problem there is everyone's needs/wants are different. The kit you linked is a return flow one. That means you can keep the intercooler pipework running through the original holes in/out the engine bay, but the downside is that the core is smaller than you can fit in with a conventional design. If you're looking to make lots of power then the smaller core might be a bit limiting. If you're looking to put a front facing plenum on (although I can't imagine why you would) then a return flow cooler would definitely be the wrong choice.

Well i don't plan on jumping into crazy engine mods anytime soon, so something small like the return flow one will be good for now, just wondering if the one from just jap is actually a decent intercooler, or should i not waste my money on it? I want to get at least 200kw within the next year, so will the smaller one be too small, or a good size?

cheers for the info

Any yumcha kit will fine, I made 246kW with a full eBay ling long cooler and ling long piping... there are guys making over 300kW with bing bong spec kits from eBay.

FYI, you can make 200kW on a stock R34 GT-t SMIC no wokkas :)

man I think the whole "you need a rediculously expensive cooler to make big power" arguement is a load of bs...

Just have a look at the RB30's coming out of Maatouks with chinese intercoolers making redicuolus power and running low 6 sec passes.

Pretty much shuts up all the non believers.

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????

Pain slips, slides, cracks, compresses, and add thickness that wasn't intended to be there. It comes firmly under the category of "just no".
