hell yea!!! first try?

Nah 4th time lucky. Well I went there 3 times in one day, the kept winging about the exhaust height. I couldn't do it properly on Monday, so got a big ol' hammer and bashed it flat. They really didn't like that, so yeah don't do that.

Ended up having to re weld the back half of the pipe, they were happy after that. One dude there seemed to think that I had put restricter plates in the exhaust, because having a 3" pipe go into a tiny pee shooter muffler does nothing to make it quiet (Idiots, goes to show how much they actually know). Another guy asked me if it did have the plate, I went full retard and gave him a blank look and said I don't know what a restricter plate is. So that seemed to work, they stamped the paperwork and I was on my way!

Order More Braided lines. I've got sooo many parts on the way now. Though i think the size i ordered for the catch can will be too small. We will find out.

Finally got my car past the pits this afternoon.

Now to put adjustable arms back on and get an alignment (where is capable of aligning fairly low cars?)

Good stuff! Try the guys are capital steering, they are great. Also I'll have to drop your owners manual past at some point.

What did i do to my car today.............

Gutter rash on the Volks. >_<

NOOoooo!!! That sux. :(

Well I just drove mine (33) to the Servo, Filled up and checked tyre pressure.

First time I've driven it since the weekend. Wow!

Jeremy, if you think you need 250kw to Enjoy, try driving something lesser for a week. It's all Relative.

Manual is weird. :D Suspension Feels like it's worth Thousands, Brakes are Awesome and Power is :woot:

Still... I love Both the lines as they have VERY different Characters.

Can't have Mum 'n' Dad covered from head to toe in MDF dust now can we?

hmmmm... I wonder if they've ever been from 0 to 100 in 6 seconds?

Looking forward to the Drive to Orange and back. :D

Must check fluids etc... Consider it done also.

fitted a high flow, injectors, ecu and tapped a thread for the MAP sensor and IAT sensor and took it for a tune. Hopefully all goes well over there. Hate the feeling that something wont go as planned.

With all those stock parts in I was running like 150kw haha got my power back and was like YEAHHHHHHH. But no job - no 250kw

I have some volks from 97 or 98 that came with my car, looks like ray Charles tried to parallel park it. Now I have the lmgt4's I think ill fix them up and paint them a stupid colour.

Looked at my door because it is very loose even when closed. Found it keeps the interior light on so I got out some sticky tape and made sure the door light thing is kept pushed in haha

Not sure how to fix the door, it seems to be sagging from the hinge :(

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
