Sau A.c.t. - What Did You Do To Your Car Today?

Recommended Posts

Today was Power steering Fluid change day for the Wagz! Another first. :D

Oh and I bought a can of dark grey spray paint from Bunnings and gave the lip a hit.

Dodge yes but well... you know. Cheap car, minimal F**ks given.

Needs to be darker grey though. I will do it better one day...

Pulled the rear door trims off and secured some bits in there. Hopefully ridding the Wagz of Rattles.... still :/

and tightened the steering rack bolts better. (one was a little loose.) Hopefully fixing some steering wanders.

Yes, theres about 12 or more different bits that can be the cause.

Its a total pain.

I hate how one bit looks like the problem, but its actually another bit that makes the first bit loose.

Feels like chasing your tail sometimes.

Even the experts can have trouble, from personal experience.

Feels like chasing your tail sometimes.

You got that right... I'll figure it out.

Today I pulled off the chrome strips on the roof and cleaned out soooo much leaves, sticks, dirt and crap.

I managed to put the strips back on properly so they actually sit right too.

This eliminated most of the rattles I've been chasing! :bunny:

I also put on an R34 Steering wheel I got for Cheaps on Ebay...

Wired up the horn, SRS Airbag is non functional and the indicators don't self cancel but they only really did 50% of the time anyway. Meh...

Looks and feels cool.

Wet sanded the bad bits with 400.

Coming up a lot better than i thought it would, now im confident the rest will be good.

Like the drivers door i thought would still be bad, but the crease at handle level only has a slight wiggle and a nick. Thats about 10cm of guesswork as it had a long shallow dent there.

There also seems to be a slight ripple on the flat underneath, very hard to see, it will sand out with some more primer filler on there.

The old "wet the panel and look" works well for spotting imperfections.

Patience helps too.... 3 hours to sand a door and a guard correctly. 18-20 for everything.

Good to see someone putting alot of effort into prep work. Makes it look 1000 times better in the end and you dont have to work as hard to make the end result awesome!

I can see why they charge so much for a good paintjob.

Show car quality is about 140-200 hours of work plus materials.

When you examine the process, its very hard to cut time or stages from the job, so even a cheap paintjob done properly is not cheap.

Even doing the easiest possible (not spraycans) paintjob id say at least 50 hours.

Washed it, drove to Goulburn.

Drove home with my Drivers side mirror glass in my hat.

I have actually seen that sort of stuff dripping in my mirror Rob! I never knew what it was.. Some sort of silicone or something.. Always see it after I wash the car.. That makes me worried now :/
