Had a bit of a crappy spray last coats of primer i put on.

Finally worked out ( I hope) the spray gun, had to watch a couple of long tutorials on spraying to work it out. Its a big difference in the amount of paint coming out, i can go a lot faster now.

And now the weather is going to be cold and wet for a week at least.

Today is a great day to spray, but lining up free time and good weather is tricky.

If i was an expert spray painter i could just do it and cope with problems using skill. Im not a good spray painter so i have to set it up for minimum hassle or i wont be able to do a good job.

It shows how good i am when every second time i touch the car i make a problem to fix. But im getting better and working out how to do it properly.

Ordered some braided line and fittings

Where from? When I get an oil cooler for the 33 I want to get some Good Hoses.

John at Trojan claims Cheapo Coolers are OK but cheapo Lines can collapse and that is a bad thing. :/

Are you doing them?

They are quite tough to fit.

In hindsight i should have bought the fitting spanners and vice sleeve too.

Your workbench needs to be heavy or youll lift it off the floor trying to do up the fittings.

Also think about an appropriate cutting tool/technique for the hose. Wayward steel strands are the devil when doing them up.

I have Speedflow and Chinaflow fittings, they are different in how they work but both just as hard to do up.

And wd40 helps.

Ps: When i set mine up i found the Earls thermostat shipped from the US was the cheapest.

Wow that's cool! Helps keep moisture out of the spray yeah?

Put my CNC cut woodgrain panels in the Wagon, still need a few clips to fasten them better.

Made a couple of matching boxes for tools etc also.

I'm going to do a new Boot Floor for both the Wagon and the 33 aswell.

If anyone wants a fresh boot floor panel cut (3mm to 16mm thick) to replace the old cracked / warped / broken Masonite one,

I can do out of MDF on the CNC at work. (would have to measure up first etc...)

Yeah cool. I can either do a small one that barely covers the wheel well (like Stock) or larger to actually cover more of the floor.

Raw MDF, Woodgrain, White or whatever... Basically depends on what Scrap we have at work. ;)

and not a dodge, shakey, freehand jigsaw cut either.

Highly likely. Just need to measure up and try to find out the curve radius etc... Praps a little trial and error too.

The panel on the Wags tailgate is similar to a parcel shelf I guess what with speaker holes and curves etc... Could be fun! ;)

I was considering trying door trims too.

    • Ended up spending a WHOLE day yesterday cleaning and rearranging my shed.  Due to the aforementioned disorder, my shed is as cluttered and confused as my brain. Again, because of said disorder,  at any one time there are 5 projects on the go at once and because they're still on the go I don't put everything away so I can "get straight back to it" which rarely happens.. So anyway,  I bought a couple of cheap 2mx2m all steel "pallet racks" to put in my back shed.  The idea is to then take pretty much everything out of the main shed that isn't car related. Most of the garden and building stuff is now booted out to the back shed and onto to the shelves where they belong! There's still more rearranging and reallocating to do and it's still a bit busy in there but it's a massive improvement on how it was previously. I've discovered floor space I forgot I had...  For those that have fully dismantled a car before will understand just how much space it takes up!  Particularly panels, bumpers, engine/trans, etc.  I've got stuff hanging on every available wall to get it up off the floor!  This is not exciting content for a blog but has certainly made the shed feel like a more work ready space now!
    • Updating results from our ATR43SS-1 turbo in T3 .63, OEM bolt dump pattern. Not a big number but pretty sweet for a stock Rb20det. Car's managed to pull 220rwkws at 20psi, perfect boost control internally gated with EBC and excellent mid top end power band as they usually skydive after 5.5K. Usual bolt on supporting mods and inlet plenum and factory location exhaust manifold. Pump 98 fuel was used (Ron 93).
    • Yeah, well, it's not as though anyone is ever going to buy one of those noisy f**kers and put it into a new installation when there are better pumps that are near silent for less money from Ti.
    • I'd suggest having the engine builder listen to it, especially if they assembled it, and minimise how much you run it in the meantime. It may have a serious issue like a big end bearing from the description and I assume the rebuild was not cheap
    • Quite right, typing without checking, it is an 023 which was effectively the replacement for 040 (not that I could find either of them on the Bosch motorsport AU site), and it has a mesh inlet at the bottom of the pump rather than a separate filter
