Help!

Hi Guys, I need some help! I've been having problem starting my car for the past few months. Nothing major... but occasionally it refuses to start but only happens when I've stopped for 5/10 mins. No problems with a cold starts in the morning....

I spoke to my mechanic, had the battery load tested (no issues) and he thinks it could possibly be an electrical gremlin.

I drove it to the shops tonight. On the way home, the engine just cut off, VDC, Engine Check Light came on. Just like that.. 1st time it happened. Still had electrical power. Turned into a lane and took 3 goes before I can start up the car again. The car felt underpowered ....

Where and what should I start troubleshooting?

What's your location?

Sounds like the crank angle sensor if the engine is cutting out, or perhaps the cam sensor. I would say take it to someone that can check the code first.

I'm in Sydney. In the past I got the following error P0340 - Something about Camshaft position sensor... I googled it.. didn't make much sense.. Sounds like it could be related Scotty?

This just happened to me, came up with Crank Angle sensor error

Actually a really common problem, I think with older models though

Did you replace both camshaft & crank position sensors?

Is it easy to find the crank position sensor locally? Or has to be sourced from the States? Sorry .. first time with an imported car.

I may be able to source you a s/h one, I have some here and there is a pair in Sydney, otherwise you could hit the wreckers, or buy a new one through Nissan? Anything from the states will take two weeks to get here and shipping sometimes makes it too expensive. Find the part number on SAU with a search and look around online, you might find a bargain...

Thanks Scotty. I managed to find both cam and crank sensors for $420. Pricey but I thought best way to go forward is new ones from Nissan autoparts. Thanks for the advice!

Finally! After $420 and $200 in labour .. my V is back on the road!! 2 hours of labour just to get 3 sensors in. Crossing fingers, that should be the fix. Thanks everyone for the assistance!
