:action-smiley-069: Well it's here on SAU, before it hits the Motoring Mags.

Under the rules of Classifieds, a price must be set: but being such an iconic car, I've placed EOI details of the Winfield Chassis #5 R32 GT-R in General Automotive instead.

WINFIELD20GT-R.jpg

"There are less than a handful of "Touring Cars" in Australia that can be labelled as iconic. The Nissan Winfield GT-R is one such car.

In their day, the Gibson Motorsport Factory GT-Rs were recognised as the most technically advanced and fastest "Group A" "Touring Cars" built in Australasia - and arguably the fastest throughout the world.

Because of their unbeatable prowess, the GT-R was responsible for the change of direction of motorsport in Australia to the current "V8 Supercar" class of to-day.

This particular car - Chassis 5 - was the last build of GT-Rs by Gibson, and is considered to be the "ultimate" of all GT-Rs ever raced.

It was specifically built for Mark Skaife to contest the 1992 major events. Consequently it won both the Australian Touring Car Championship and the Bathurst 1000 that year.

It's best known for that controversial, but deserved Bathurst victory when co-driver Jim Richards stood on the winners' podium to confront and shock the unruly parts of the mob, calling them "A PACK OF ARSEHOLES". After 21 years have passed, the legacy of Jim's 'ungentlemanly' outburst has not abated, and certainly, nor has the car's interest and intrigue with the public, to its stunning performance...

As the 1992 Bathurst 1000 marked the final year of "Group A" racing in Australia, this car was taken back to the factory and fully restored by Gibson Motorsport, and thereafter mothballed...

Terry Ashwood purchased it from Fred Gibson in 2001, and during its current ownership, has been actively competed in "Historic Racing" events and displays throughout Australia.

The maintenance programme for the car has been kept to the highest standards with Ashwood continuing to use Fred Gibson and many of the Gibson Motorsport technicians that originally worked on the car during its reign. Its most recent 2012 (fully documented) service included a complete and extensive mechanical walk through, with a fresh Nissan Motorsport engine replacement; a transmission and full drivetrain dismantle and service; new AP front 6 pot calipers with full rotor replacement; and a full suspension service.

The car presents as brand new, both mechanically and aesthetically, with no expense spared in any aspect of the car.

Included with the sale are both original and current C-O-D logbooks in addition to all major components including the specifically designed fully enclosed car trailer, two spare Nissan Factory Motorsport "Group A" engines, 4 wheel sets, complete Gibson suspension casting assemblies, four Nissan Motorsport diff assemblies, four Gibson Motorsport turbochargers, 1 spare Electromotive Engine Management System, 1 original Electromotive Data Logging System, body panels, numerous parts, original clothing, trophies, technical data, original dedicated PC computers etc.

If you want the best, then here it is!

This car will suit the most avid collector!

Inspections will be made available to "genuine buyers" only.

Suitable trade-ins may be considered as a part-payment.

Price on application to Terry Ashwood during business hours on the east coast of Aust. if phoning 0415.262.855

^ ^ ^ Well there it is! Let's hope this beauty/beast stays in Australia???

You totally should buy it Terry

*cough > lol

My name isn't Leno, Fox, Laws or Billy Joel

Actually, I'd still be happy with my original non-V-Spec GT-R.

And I can recall settling into my lounge in our newly built house in '92 watching those godzillas at Bathurst.

I wanted the GIO car to win > 'cause I treat ppl for smoking. Hahaa

Ask'em if they would want to swap you, for your R34 GTR N1 for the Winfield R32 GTR.

Just say its a GTR with a Race Spec Engine from factory...

Oooo interesting indeed!

Hope whoever buys it is a true enthusiast and has the proper money behind them to maintain/run etc so it doesn't end up in disrepair down the track like some other historics have!

Damn right Ash!

I wonder if the new owner will still have access to the former GM technicians?

Would it be difficult do you think to find an alternative qualified tuner for such a management system?
