Hey All,

I know there are some of you who are eager to get out on the track and just don't know how or where or when or who to talk to.

Hopefully this will make it a little easier. If you have any questions let me know either post in this thread incase others have similar questions or send me a PM if you're a little shy.

There are a few club\entry level motorsport events in tassie which will hopefully cater to any enthusiast who wants to have some good, safe and legal fun.

All you need for them is a CAMS L2S Licence ($95 pa) and a Club membership ($60 pa for HSCC)

#1 is Super Sprints, it's just you vs the clock, you do 3-5 laps at a time with 3 other cars on the track with you, you'll get around 3-4 heats in a day. Very fun, very little mods required, pretty cheap (Usually $110 per day)

Only mods required are: Fire Extinguisher of at least 900g mounted within reach of the driver, secondary bonnet restraint, metal valve caps, blue triangle on the body indicating the battery location and clear contact over your headlights\foglights\indicators if they're glass.

Super Sprint Dates for 2013 are as follows:

Feb 10 - Symmons Plains

April 14 - Baskerville

May 11 - Symmons Plains

Sept 14 - Symmons

Oct 27 - Baskerville

Nov 3 - Symmons Plains

#2 is Hill Climbs, Hill climbs are usually a public road, start at the bottom, finish at the top, fastest time wins, one car on the track at a time. Hill climbs are really easy on your car because you're only gunning it for 40 seconds at a time with big breaks inbetween, expect to get 5-8 runs up the hill on these days. Only mods required are: Fire Extinguisher of at least 900g mounted within reach of the driver, secondary bonnet restraint, metal valve caps, blue triangle on the body indicating the battery location and clear contact over your headlights\foglights\indicators if they're glass.

Hill Climb Dates for 2013 are as follows:

Feb 9 - Highclere

March 10 - Collinsvale

March 23 - Barrington

July 14 - Baskerville

September 22 - Hobart Domain

October 27 - Legerwood Lane

November 17 - Baskerville

December 7 - Highclere

#3 is Drift, Drifting is about sliding the car sideways through the judged section of the track while maintaining as much speed and angle as you can while following the correct line. If it's your first time I'd strongly reccomend entering a practice day first, mostly beacuse Competition days you don't get as much track time, especially if you don't qualify or are eliminated in your first battle. Practice day entry fees are $150, this includes a $20 deposit which is returned to you after you help sweep the track at the end of the day. Only mods required are: Fire Extinguisher of at least 900g mounted within reach of the driver, secondary bonnet restraint, metal valve caps, blue triangle on the body indicating the battery location and clear contact over your headlights\foglights\indicators if they're glass.

Spectator Entry is like $10 for Drift Competition days and there is food and drink at the venue.

Drifting Dates for 2013 are as follows:

Febuary 9 - Practice - Baskerville

Febuary 23 - Round 1 - Baskerville

March 30 - Practice - Symmons Plains

May 4 - Round 2 - Symmons Plains

June 15 - Time Attack - Baskerville

July 27 - Practice - Baskerville

August 31 - Round 3 - Baskerville

September 21 - Practice - Baskerville

November 2 - Round 4 - Baskerville

December 7 - Practice - Baskerville

There is also Motokhana which is just whipping around some cones in a small area either in a car park or paddok, pretty good fun, see the dates on the full calendar which I've attached.

Khanacross is like grass track, large track mapped out in a paddok or around a dirt track, dates on the full calendar. Pretty good fun, I did it once in my WRX, had a blast.

The other day which you'd all love is the Tassie Time Attack Challenge on June 15 at Baskerville. 3x30 min heats, best time wins, Three classes too, Street, Club and Race. There is also a small Drift Competition on this day too.

Please always read the supp regs carefully before entering any event to avoid disappointment on the day.

Then there is Super Series, Super series is Tasmania's Circuit racing series, caters to a large variety of cars and classes and is very fun to get along and watch! It's not for the entry level competitor as you need to install a large amount of safety equipment such as roll cages, racing seats, harnesses, buy a race suit and have your car logbooked. If you want more information on getting your car ready for Super Series let me know and I'll do my best to help you out, I've just finished getting my Circuit racing licence and car Log Booked.

Super series Dates are as follows:

March 24 - Baskerville

April 28 - Symmons Plains

May 26 - Baskerville

August 4 - Symmons Plains

September 7&8 - Baskerville

November 10 - Symmons Plains

Spectator Entry is like $10 for TSS days and there is food and drink at the venue.

So I hope this helps you guys out if you want to enter some events this year!

If you've got any questions or if I've missed anything just post up here! Or send me a PM.

Just thought I'd add that Motorkhanas are a non speed classed events so the level of cams license needed is only a level 2 non speed l2ns which is generaly around half the price if you are keen to get into motorsport but don't have big bucks.

Symmons plains and Latrobe are grate venues for these events and have plenty of room to play. Never done one down south.

Good news drag fans!

The strip has new owners now, I just got off the phone with him and while no official entry fees have been released yet it's still looking to be some good ol' cheap fun :D

Save the date! I'll post up more details as soon as I know them.

Aaaaaaaaand something you might be interested in entering is the first Club day sprints for the year!

Sprints are the perfect opportunity to try your hand at some simple track work, 4 cars on the track at once, not racing each other, just against the clock. Sprints are awesome, really chilled atmosphere, everyone is very friendly and the officials\organisers are really helpful to all the new guys. I'll be there too helping a friend with his car.

Spectators are free for this event.
