My Baby Was Stolen (If You See These Plates!)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

My R32 GTR was stolen from the front of my house Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning (between 11:30-05:00) in Glen Waverley, i figured fellow enthusiasts spot GTR's alot more frequently then other motorists. so if anybody sees it can they please report it to the police!?!?

Distinguishing features:

REGO: YRH 084

Gunmetal grey, noticeable paint fade rear left of roof

Rays 18" TE37 titanium colour with advan 265 semi slicks,

small Import monster sticker rear window

they're the only things visible from a distance, I'm not sure if posting this is allowable on SAU cause I've only owned her for 4 months. I'm not sure how big organised vehicle theft is in VIC for skylines but I'm not sure ill get her back.

Thanks for the help

Dan

That sucks to hear Dan :(

Our own SAU VIC Treasurer's R34 was stolen just the other day, it seems that organised vehicle theft is on the rise.

Where was it parked out the front?

Did you have any alarm system?

Got pics Dan?

Ill post it up on SAU VIC FB to get the word out

Well my car got stolen from Springvale Station this Wednesday. Last seen at Shell Emerald Petrol station. Wonder if its the same sort of 'people'

Yeah thats the one I was looking at as well, the TK102 (or more specifically the TK102-2 (also called the TK102 version 2)

Might not help in the case of professional car thieves, but the losers that steal cars like Tony's and drive around to petrol stations in full view of cameras.... Your bitch arse is mine. And I'll be posting in Wasteland looking for some backup muscle before we go to recover it.

Additionally: GoPro the door knock

No real need, plus on a R33 GTS-t, which is really not worth much...

An alarm is only as good as the bloke installing it. Installed PROPERLY - your car will need to be taken via a flatbed, and I'm not joking.

People think spending $800 on an alarm will make it harder to steal. Installed just basically, it's easier to steal than if I used a couple of $5 switchs from Jaycar installed and hidden well. You'd effectively need to rewire the ignition to the engine bay car to get it to start.

Pay less for the alarm, more for the install - you'll be far better off.

Sim Card = Long Expiry prepaid....

$40 includes $40 in credit and a 365 day expiry.... 28c per SMS sent. Will last the year easily.

Do you know a Mobile Jammer costs about $150? :)

Any semi organised theif is well on top of that

nice mate. i know its not worth much. but its MY CAR.

and yes i have quite a few tricks hidden in the car to make it undriveable with out the transmitter in my pocket.

im just thinking a cheap tracker would be great.

I'm well aware that it won't stop a professional, but for someone who nicks the car and isn't organised / has the right tools... I'd rather have something instead of nothing

So think logically - that's what insurance is for.

If someone wants to steal your car, they will. GPS tracking won't mean a thing once they get it - thrash it and probably ding the car anyway.

You'll still come back to insurance and all GPS will do it tell you where you can find the crashed/burnt/stripped shell (for a joyrider). If it's organised then it's a waste of time as it's 100% gonna get stripped.

You need to look at alarms as an effective way it so DELAY them from stealing. Nothing is 100% fool proof, but a $100 alarm installed exceptionally well will force whoever is stealing it to take time to work around it. Time is your friend in any burglary both car and house. Of course companies won't tell you this and say you need to spend $$$$$$$$$.

Make the thief take as much time as you can, if it gets longer than 2-3mins you'll find they will simply give up as it's now into the risk zone. That way all you probably need to deal with is a broken window/lock, ignition barrell and some interior things. Far less than if the car was started, driven and then who knows what (which a GPS is never going to prevent).

Call me crazy and what not but never have any of my cars been stolen, and believe you me people have tried. Used to park at a station for 2 years, at least 5 attempts IIRC. But each time all I came back to was essentially minor damage and my pride and joy was still there. Tad worse for wear, but still in one complete and unthrashed.

and i have ways around "jammers" lol

but your right! something is better than nothing.

yep, i most definitely agree with good install not wanker alarm.. a good guy I used is "steves car alarms"

things down to tilt sensors, immobilisors, window sensors, movement sensors, a LOUD AS f**k alarm are the things that stop theives.

Steve was cheap to install, came all up to $600 i think. i'd rather it make as loud of a noise as possible so everyone wil be aware.. I also made sure he hid frequency speakers in the car so it would make whoever's in the car, life hell...

that was the 200sx.. Evo is worse. lol

its not so much for recovering my car.

its for finding them. a few electronic gizmo's could easily hook a gps tracker up to a shock sensor. therefore instant message as soon as it is moved. the 20 second updates. quite easy to follow.

yes alarms are spot on. and insurance is great. but i wouldn't go straight to the police, if i had a chance to find it and take it back i would. the police genuinely do not care.

im not arguing with you so dont start waving the ban stick. i just think that both our points are valid no matter how much you think my car is worth.
