My Baby Was Stolen (If You See These Plates!)

Recommended Posts

its not so much for recovering my car.

its for finding them.

That's the same thing essentially - you've just had your car stolen mind you, so you have no car to chase them in... :)

Plus finding "them" and getting all vigilante on their asses, that's just silly. Same with not going to the Police.

Joyriders will joyride and dump, it'll be found (likely in disarray), so wouldn't be worrying there. Organised crime you'll never find it unless they want you too.

I love my SS, but at the same time i do realise it's still just a shitbox and worth only marginally more than a 33-t - I don't care about people calling it how it is :)

Another Skyline stolen last night:

Another stolen 32, THA FARK?! Evan's 32 GTS-T on VS-XX was stolen last night from Box Hill North. Rego UQK367. If seen please call the police or call the owner, Evan on 0408 543 455.

Good alarm install is good

But GPS is also good, last known where abouts of where the car is if it where to get stripped. At least the cops may have a lead to be able to catch the person.

Don't condone violence but

Would go to the place and give them a box of Ferrero Rocher's. Noimsayin

Car is stolen I get insurance payout so no big deal. Would just like the person who did it found and punished

Thanks for the support guys, it is insured, but my fist GTR... really had a special spot, this was the car that since i was 11 dreamt that one day i would own... finally bought it! and then...

Would just like the person who did it found and punished

probably my biggest sentiment right now. pissed that people do this, and i don't want it to happen to others (although possibly the worst possible timing, since i am moving to Brisbane for work soon and needed to drive up!!)

heres a pic of my baby (prior to putting the TE37's on)

Sorry for your loss Dan and Tony, Had my stock R34 4 door stolen mid September (all that was left was the ignition barrel and glass).

Car still hasn't been recovered, Pain in the arse is that i have custom plates... and now have a 2000 R34 GT-T 2 door in the same colour.

Been pulled over and had to explain to police twice now, Shame they can't do anything about the plates still showing up stolen on their system.

I hope they catch these people before more and more get stolen, worst feeling.

Oh and i'm actually in the northern suburbs (South Morang) myself

i've been in the same situation as you have. my 32R went missing one fateful march night. and the lack of enthusiasm i got from the cops when i went to make a report was well, surprising. they were not even sympathetic, and best part, they gave me a wrong case number which made the insurance company put me under investigation for 4 months.

FK that! I would be mad, i hope that i was given the correct incident number now, I called the police yesterday to get the # for the insurer(police didnt have it when i first reported), call went pretty well as follows

"XXXXXXXX police station.."

"Hey mate, My names Daniel. i reported my car stolen on tuesday and just need to get my incident number for my insurer. Are you able to help me with that?"

"Listen Son. I dont know who the hell you think you are but i am not giving you piss over the phone. you could be anyone. and you reckon you can just call up anytime and get information off me. come down to the station."

"uhhhh.... okay Sir thats no problem.. apologies, i wast aware i couldnt get it over the phone. i can be down in about 5 minutes."

"well theres probably a lot of things you are not aware of"

"uhh, bye"

"click"

I was quite taken back... and pretty pissed off too! i headed down though and bumped into the officer that i reported it to initially and she was great, the bloke i spoke to must of just had a pretty a bad day.. which is imaginable, Saturday close to Christmas, possibly working the next few days straight through, so i cant really blame him.

gee mate your patience and tolerance needs to be commened. I would have gone rank and likely spent a night in the watchouse again.

"Listen Son. Sorry sir, I dont know who the hell you think who you are therefore I am not able giving you piss to provide details over the phone. you could be anyone. and you reckon you can just call up anytime and get information off me. Please come down to the station with proof of identity and I will happily provide that infrmation."

if he has no pride in his work, he should be doing something else.

Agreed.

I'm not just saying that as anyone, I'm Army and would never condone someone in public service treating people they are employed to serve that way.

    • I think my main complaint with your idea is that there is a veneer of idealism spread across it. You want the simple numbers to make it easier, but all they will do is make it easier for someone to come to the wrong conclusion because the fine details will kick them in the nuts. As it is right now, the tiny bit of arithmetic is NOT the obstacle to understanding what will fit and what will not fit. The reality of trying it is what determines whether it will fit. If you had a "standard rule" that R34 GTT guards have that magic 100mm space from the hub face to whichever side you were worried about, and someone said "excellent, this wheel is only 98mm in that direction, I'll just go spend $4k on them and jam them on my sick ride".....they would just as likely find out that the "standard rule" is not true because the rear subframe is offset to one side by a fairly typical (but variable) 8mm on their car and they only have 92mm on one side and 108 on the other.
    • It still combines inches with mm, especially when you have .5 inches involved, and mm and inches that can go in either direction. This would give a clear idea on both sides of the rim, right away, with no arithmetic. Even better if somebody gives you the dimensions of the arch of multiple cars. i.e GTR may be 125mm, a A80 Supra may be 117mm, or something along those lines. Yes, you can 'know' that going from a 10in rim to a 10.5in rim with the same offset moves both sides about 6mm, but you still have to 'know' that and do the math. Often it's combined. People are going from 9.5 +27 to 10.5 +15. You may do the math to know it, but if it was going from (I had to go look it up to be sure) 241mm/2 - 27 - 93.5mm from the center line to (more math) 266/2 - 15 (118mm) from the center line. Versus 93mm vs 118mm. It's right there. If you know you have a GTT with 100mm guards you can see right away that one is close to flush and the other absolutely won't work. And when someone says "Oh the GTR is 120mm" suddenly you see that the 10.5 +15 is about perfect. (or you go and buy rims with approximately 118mm outward guard space) I think it's safe to say that given one of the most common questions in all modified cars is "How do offsets work" and "How do I know if wheels will fit on my car" that this would be much simpler... Of course, nothing will really change and nobody is going to remanufacture wheels and ditch inches and offset based on this conversation :p We'll all go "18x9+30 will line up pretty close to the guards for a R34 GTT (84mm)" but 'pretty close' is still not really defined (it is now!) and if you really care you still have go measure. Yes it depends on camber and height and dynamic movement, but so do all wheels no matter what you measure it for.
    • But offsets are simple numbers. 8" wheel? Call it 200mm, near enough. +35 offset? OK, so that means the hub face is that far out from the wheel centreline. Which is 2s of mental arithmetic to get to 65mm to outer edge and 135mm to inner. It's hardly any more effort for any other wheel width or offset. As I said, I just close my eyes and can see a picture of the wheel when given the width and offset. That wouldn't help me trust that a marginal fitment would actually go in and clear everything, any more than the supposedly simple numbers you're talking about. I dunno. Maybe I just automatically do numbers.
    • Sure! But you at least have simple numbers instead of 8.5 inches +/mm, relative to your current rims you do maths with as well, and/or compare with OEM diameter, which you also need to know/research/confirm..
