It's been on the dyno. GIVE IT SOME! :D

RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where you gonna peg the boost needle Ant eater?

lol........soon Paulie very soon.

Have no idea what Sean is setting things at so I guess everything will be revealed when I get to pick up the ant-eater

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, thats fair enough Scottie.

Many apologies to all regarding the slow progress of late regarding this project.

I have been trying very, very, very, hard to get things wrapped up but alas these delays are unfortunately out of my control (which has been frustrating the hell out of me :verymad: )

So, after I called the tuner last week (who was frantically focusing on getting ready for Jamboree), my Haltech ECU decided to more or less crap itself after an hour on the dyno - something to do with the coms port not reading. The tuner told me he has sent the ECU to Haltech for repair.

Needless to say that after that conversation I felt pretty much guttered.

From seeing the Ant-Eater being tuned on the dyno to this was rather depressing. Although its a new computer (as in never been used) its out of its warranty period.

Anyways, to cut a long story short, I have been in contact with Haltech today (who are a great to deal with BTW) to find out what the prognosis is.

The ECU has passed preliminary testing which is positive to hear. However, there is a display error - im not sure what this means yet.

I have been told that the ECU will be returned tomorrow to the workshop, so hopefully it will be all good.

That is all I have for the moment guys.

I do hope to have some communication from my tuner this week and x fingers it will be ready soon.

Once more information is made available to me I will off course update you's all.

Oh man! Your so close! Not long to go now :)

Glad to hear Haltech were happy enough to assist you though, i was strongly considering one before i picked up my nistune. However local Adelaide support was the decider for me.

Get us some dyno footage :D! Must hear... rb..

Sounds frustrating to say the least, mate. Bear with it, you've come a long way with the beast and have had bigger hurdles than this! You're close, and I look forward to seeing the final power run video with power graph :)

Ok,ok..............so the Ant-Eater Finally got tuned :)

I will just post up some pics so they can do the talking.

Enjoy ;)

All results using BP Ultimate 98

Thread needs more pics of the car back in your hot little hands Ants.

Not sure where about you live but have you thought about trying it on E85? or maybe getting the Haltech Flex Sensor and run both. Sorry if this has been covered before

ah the ever dangerous "........for now"

can I just say power figure aside that torque curve is AWESOME!!!......

smooth drive and given the motor reliable as....

Im guessing that 350 on a "Run in " tune ?????

I'm thinking in 6 months this shit will get re-dic

So future plans are to get it tuned on E85 and install an ethanol sensor just 4 piece of mind and hopefully crack that 400rwkw.

Since I have a United service station literally not even 300 meters away, the availability of E85 is not an issue.

After speaking to Sean, he mentioned there is plenty of power to be had. So things look promising.

    • I ❤️ Matty I would like to thank Matty for going out his way in securing me a OEM NC detachable hard top for the NC Matty, your worth your weight in gold, and I cannot say how much I really appreciate your outstanding help I'll get it colour matched once I pick it up sometime in Dec-Jan 😁
    • We have some genuine Japanese legally decommissioned car number plates now in stock 🙂 Add some legitimately obtained JDM style to your Skyline or other Japanese model, or simply as a garage/man cave decoration! About the 40mm hole: The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport in Japan recognised the popularity of keeping decommissioned plates among car enthusiasts and came up with a method to "destroy" (or render them unusable for street use) while still retaining their collectable/usable value for display etc.  We have 40mm hole covers available to cover the hole nicely with a Sakura motif, which are also available in white in (very!) limited quantities, however they frequently sell out. Please let me know if you're wanting one or more of these and I'll check availability. The Sakura motif covers are more common. https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set-su-7515 https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-400mm-hole-cover *Please note that we can't obtain particular number or area name (eg: "Gunma 500 Fu ・86") if requested. All plates are provided as they become available after decommissioning.
    • Ah, fair enough. For the IAT, I'm using a legit GM sensor that was used on the car prior to my current build. I'll get another wideband and IAT ordered and follow up when they show up. Thanks for the help.
    • You shouldn't need to massively fatten up the mixtures for cold conditions. For one thing - 0°C is not that cold. For another, the Haltech will be using the IAT sensor to tell it how dense the air air, and calculate the correct amount of fuelling. Then the cold start enrichment is added as a % on top of that, so it should scale with the main fuelling. You might also doubt the IAT sensor at this time. You're not using one from an RB26 are you? Using a nice Bosch sensor or similar? Happens. Some wideband units take great pleasure in killing their sensors. Put another wideband in the tailpipe and compare. Or just swap the sensor to a brand new one and see.
    • Oh, my misunderstand. When the car was running, it sounded ok, but if I gave it any gas it wanted to die but caught itself afterwards. It's very different from how it was a couple months ago when it was warmer outside. The logs show that the AFRs are better during, what I assume, is warmup enrichment. Because it's cold, and air is more dense, should I work on the enrichment bit?
