lozz_ti
Just orderd a set of front rotors for my gtr and they are way to big. The place i orderd them from are tllelling me that 94 model gtr came out with brembos not standard nissan calipers. My rotors measured up at 296mm. Can anyone help me out with this? Should my car have brembo calipers or did they order the wrong rotors? Thanks, lozz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/ Share on other sites
ravewar
Hey mate, AFAIK, gtr32 v specs/n1 spec only came with brembos, with 324mm front rotors Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678188 Share on other sites
Moodles2
Mines a standard '94 R32 GTR and I don't have brembos, as above only V-Spec & V-Spec II had brembos (and possibly N1 as well I'm not 100%) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678216 Share on other sites
blind_elk
They ordered the wrong rotors. According to the DBA catalogue, R32 GTR 08/89 - 12/94 use the 296mm rotor. Later models had optional Brembos. Just send the rotors back and tell them you need the 296mm rotors (DBA cat 4926) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678221 Share on other sites
whizzn
The place i orderd them from are tllelling me that 94 model gtr came out with brembos not standard nissan calipers. Not true, there trying to cover up there mistake obviously Only the V-Spec models as mentioned had the Brembo's as standard, if they FASTED your VIN number before ordering then that would of given them right part numbers. If they did FAST your VIN and this is the rotors that are meant to be on it then i'd be real curious as possibly you own a V-Spec that someone has pilered the brakes off Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678226 Share on other sites
ck_chino
i have a 94 gtr non v spec, non brembo. my car has the sumitomo's and they are 296mm. find a different shop, they dont seem to be well versed in the nissan skyline Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678530 Share on other sites
Duncan
I wouldn't worry too much, the DBA catalogue is pretty unclear on the 94 gtr rotors so they just made a simple mistake. lozz_ti
Thanks guys. I read some where that gtst calipers and 33 gtr rotors fit with an adapter brack for the r32 gtst calipers made by gk tech. Are these rotors the same as the 33 gtr rotors? I can get a set of gtst calipers cheap and then ive got a cheap brake upgrade Cheers, lozz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678680 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
No. Not true. The caliper adaptors suit the R32 (and S14 and Z32) calipers which have shorter legs than than the R33/GTR calipers. The only "upgrade" you could do would be to get some old R32 calipers and the adaptors to use those 324mm rotors. But the R32 calipers are not as stiff as the later ones. They creak and groan and carry on like a pork chop. There are not rally any decent options for spacing the R33/GTR calipers out to 324mm. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678691 Share on other sites
lozz_ti
Im confused the legs on the calipers are longer on the gtr ir the legs on the hub? If it the calipers then i can swap them ouf for gtst one i can got for next to nothing. Are you saying its not a cheap upgrade worth doing because they creak and groan or do they flex to much and ruin the brake pedal feel? Cheers, lozz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6678708 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Hubs are the same (well, not the same, but the caliper mounts on them are). Caliper legs are different. R32 GTSt calipers are the poor cousin to the GTR and R33 calipers (despite looking much the same, they are not). Don't do it. Duncan
the d2 group buy is the perfect upgrade....complete, cheap and you will never need to upgrade again Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416041-94-r32-gtr-brake-rotor-size/#findComment-6680059 Share on other sites
simpletool
Yeah you should go the D2 group buy. There is no such thing as a cheap brake upgrade for a GTR. You'll want more than 324mm in the future anyway, those things are really hard on front brakes. KiwiRS4T
You should be able to sell your brakes to someone with a Stagea or possibly other Skylines etc no problem.
