Hello there, shortly I'll be in the market for purchasing a stagea and I want to chase down the 260rs Autech model, this car will be used as a weekender/toy, not as a daily and I was wondering what to look for when purchasing these cars. Hopefully i'll be able to source a low milage one localy that i can physicaly take a look at but if thats not the case i'll consider importation through a company like J spec imports. Is there any common faults or repairs that need to be carried out on these cars over time? Also what do i need to look for when considering purchasing one as well apart from the usual judge by condition ect, take klms with a grain of salt ect? Any problems with purchasing parts aswell? What would you reconmend spending on something like this?

Any valuable information would be much appreciated as I am new to the import car scene. Thanks.

If you go to the "pinned" threads at the top of this page you will find a guide to buying a C34 Stagea. It applies to the 260 as well. The exception that seems to interest some people is the question of whether it is a factory Autech or a replica (RS4T with an RB26, Brembos etc) and a little searching should help with that.

Rust under the mirrors

faulty/old coil packs

is it genuine (need to run it through fast for this)

is it from a cold climate? does it have 2 reverse lights or 1 reverse and 1 rear fog? (if its the latter walk away, it will be a ticking time bomb for rust)

A manual series two C34 is the better base for mods imo. Neo engine with VCT will see you far surpass the performance of the RB26, for less coin than the 260 purchace price.

Km's will almost definitely be wound back at some point, and make sure you check for underbody rust before buying. Half the imported cars I see have an unusually large amount of rust underneath.
