A fire truck crushed my Skyline!

The car was unregistered, Will it be covered by their insurance?

Can anyone recommend a quality Japanese Import Specialist repair shop? It would be much appreciated.

Also I tried to post pictures but they are to large how do I reduce there size?

Thanks in Advance.

Upload the pictures to tiny URL, google it, you can choose the size.

Sucks about the car though.

^ as above.

Only reason it wouldn't be would be if it was illegally parked or similar (in front of a fire hydrant etc, you get nothing back if they have to smash your windows as a result IIRC).

Nope even if illegally parked, the stationary car is never at fault. The driver should be aware of the surroundings

To a point - if you are illegally parked, or really where you should not - it'd be an interesting court case to see if you'd be able to recoup the costs or not.

I know I'd be favouring the firemans judgement if it was a very serious fire and shit needed to happen.

Without the full information it's really hard to say either way, and his insurance would still cover it regardless.

i'm thinking unregistered = un insured.

I know my laid up insurance for the stang does not cover it on the street.

and most other insurances only cover registered cars

that said, more info needed, did the truck run into it?

did they "move" it as it was a issue

did they kill it whilst on fire!!

You can still be covered

My mate got paid out 6k from a drunk driver who smacked into his unreg vx that had permit, after the crash this is how the cars sat both written off and the skyline was touched with a scratches on the 1/4 panel, this was 2 years ago

would be a pretty interesting case if in an emergency actually

Their insurance covers your damages.

Providing you/your car - doing nothing illegal at the time of the accident.

(i.e: you or someone else were not driving it at the time of the accident and it was parked legally)

Unregisterd makes insurance of the vehicle null n void and no third party/property. It can not be on a road.

Different matter if insured and in storage.

So your saying that if you're park in a disables spot without a permit, and someone drives into you it's your fault? Or if you have broken down on the left lane in the freeway, and someone drives into you, it's still your fault. Saying that your parked illegally is a very broad overview. As ash said above it would only be in extreme cases like parking in front of a fire hydrant or of the sort

Had a mate who was hit by a police car on his motorbike in a regular traffic incident, apparently the police cars roof lights were on so it voided any chance of their insurance covering the damage (his bike was uninsured - silly man). This is what he told me anyway.

Neither in the examples you have decided to provide.

Vehicle is stationary. Negligence on behalf of the driver of the moving vehicle.

"Broad overview" - yep ok.

Ok the car is covered by there insurance!!

I need to get the car of the road asap as the front bar, grill and intercooler have been stolen!

    • I have done a lot of research before posting here and on gtruk forum. couldn't find anything. I have my gauges all part except the needle itself. the needle has a extremely small hole in the center, but the shaft going to the needle is extremely small and appears to have nothing to index it either. doesn't seem strong enough to simple pry or pull without damaging something. Already tried the old spoon trick on a extra triple meter I have from a gtt, but no luck. the center cap comes off easily but the hole in the meter face plate aren't big enough to get over the needle itself. figured this would be my best place to find someone who might have actually removed theirs. wonder if there is some type of small pin press tool to push the pin in while pulling the needle base off.
    • Ok...its taking me long enough to finally do this.  Feck financial security...heart disease will get me soon enough anyway So welcome to the garage..."Clem" Belsil80 has been running a 370Z in Super TT series. So after entering with him in last years Winton 300 i figured I  need my own car. Seems SAU Vic race cars need to be yellow....{tick} Reckon with enough motor i will be able to make up for the lack of talent and stay ahead of the 370Z... but the LS powered S13 and E36s are a ways up the road Aim is to have a car that doesnt stop or turn but has a bit of shed built motor with jam...maybe some cream  First step is getting this ex drift car log booked I am keeping faithful silver car. As the road-club car gets upgrades the race car wil get the sloppy seconds
    • Assuming that they will come off without damage at all.... i would have thought just pull straight up off the spindle with a something or other than can reach underneath. Have you searched for youtube vids of people doing similar on R34s or any other Nissan from the same vintage? They should be the same technique, in all likelihhood.
    • Keeping in mind that sandblasting is really aggressive on softer metals like cast alloy, and you can do damage that you might regret. For trash wheels, not a problem. For wheels with value/scarcity issues, etc.... perhaps a less aggressive media is a better choice?
