Well there ya go. It is dodgy, i have taken it of as the bolts were buggered, and the spoiler was lifting on the left hand side.

Thanks for clearing that up..

Cool! Mine has the airbag too, and the wing as standard - KBNR32RBFSN AA

According to the VIN decoder that I use it should have the air bag but NOT the rear wing.

It may have been added later on.

Bob, what VIN decoder do you use mate?

I use a couple of decoders because not one is super accurate.

There is this one - https://sites.google.com/site/tyndago/gt-rinformationplatebreakdown

And this one - http://www.users.on.net/~goofyhsk/info/chassis_plate.html

They both have small errors you need to work with.

Just to clarify....

The rear spoiler was NOT an option, nor was the rear window wiper.

They were both standard fitment however order you car without them fitted hence why only the "delete" option is recordered on the build plate.

I hope that clears things up.

Bob.

Thanks Bob, it was written badly on my behalf, what I was trying to say is that I never knew that it was possible to have it not fitted.

LOL....... Just re-read my post. I think I need to go back to school! There should be an inserted "you could" order you car without them fitted hence why only the "delete" option is recordered on the build plate.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey boys, good news.......... I bought a Silver V-Spec 2 today.

Will post up all the relevant details once I pick her up later in the week.

Cheers,

Bob.

Really? Wow! Cool!

Is that your third R32 now mate?

Not quite, it's the third one I've owned but I sold my JDM back in November..

I looked at all options including other marques and came to the conclusion that R32 GT-R's are the car for me.

This car I've just bought has had a fortune spent on it but still needs a bit bit TLC.

My objective is for it to look pretty much 100% stock (bar exhaust) but for it to have 325+ rwkw's.

It's already been dynod at 286 but I think there is a fair bit more left in it with the right upgrades and tuning.

Cheers and I'll post pics soon.

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Is that the Silver Vspec2 with the coloured BBS wheels recently advertised on Carsales in NSW?

If it is the one I am thinking, it looked like a clean unit with some modifications, in fact if it we're in Vic I would have inspected it with a view to a sale.

I take it you will be enjoying the Vspec2 whilst the ADM sleeps?

Yes Tony........

It's had the original wheels refurbished beautifully but painted dark (gunmetal) grey which I don't like.

I'm going to have to redo them in the original silver.

You are also correct on the ADM front.

I'm happy to drive that 3-4 times per year and keep the mileage down.

This V-Spec 2 will be my weekend fun car.

Sounds great mate - just like mine. 100% stock except for an 'age correct' HKS exhaust from the front pipes back. I've never had it on a dyno. Let me know how you go and what you do.

How many kms has she done?

Mine's just gone 85,000km - it gets used most days. I'm never going to sell it so I don't really mind. One day we'll get another car and the use of the GT-R will diminish, until then I get to enjoy the driving.

Hi Mike,

Car has done 106,000kms. All the odometre digits line up perfectly so I'm hoping the mileage is genuine.

It's got brand new Bilstein struts and shocks, Lowered King Springs, Whiteline sway bars and a heap of new bushes all throughout the suspension.

Turbos are stock, 3" exhaust with hi flow cats, Nismo MAFs, Nistune, Splitfire coils, Koyorad 53mm lightweight aluminum radiator, Sard 720cc injectors, Walbro fuel pump, Metal Intercooler hard pipe kit. HKS EVC-6 boost controller, Excedy HD clutch.

Recently had a major service so all the belts and water pump are new.

Premium Alpine system with amps etc etc under factory covers though!

I get it at lunchtime tomorrow.

Cheers,

Bob.

Any pics and updates bob ? :D

Yep....... Picked up the car at lunchtime and took it for a spin down to Unigroup Engineering. It's booked in for tune and some cosmetic engine bay treatment in two weeks time.

Right after that it goes to my panel shop where they will work their magic and redo the wheels in their original silver not the stupid gun metal grey they currently are. The front needs work. Ridiculous daytime running lights will go and screw holes filled, bumper repaired and resprayed and lower bib spoiler will be sanded, prepped, primed and colour coded to the rest of the bar.

Goes great, I'm thrilled at this stage.

Here are some pics......

Nice car mate. Is the front lip bare plastic, or painted dark grey. If it is bare plastic, I personally would leave it stock. I think colour coded front lips were an option, and raw grey plastic was standard. Cheers and congrats on the great car.

It's been painted a very dark grey.......Yes, it should be a natural unpainted grey but I think with the N1 inserts it will look the best painted.

I considered buying a new one but at $450 it's just not worth it. The existing one does haves scratches so at least it can be filled and sanded, then painted. The only other option is to paint it the original natural grey. I'm still thinking about that.

Bob.

Yeah if it has already been painted, there is not much you can do other than colour match it to the car, or buy a new one from Nissan. I personally like the unpainted raw plastic lips. But i guess that is all personal preference.

    • Cheapest option, find a NEO head. Put in good springs, decent cams, and send it to the moon. I rev mine to 8600RPM, gets me about 232km/h down the main straight at SMSP bouncing off the limiter in 4th. I've never dared to grab 5th 🥲
    • Gday mate, Personally in my car i run 450kw in an s2 rb25 so also hydraulic lifters and have always run it to 7500 RPM and using some baby 256 poncams with new but stock springs and retainers. While i cant speak on any experience with solid lifters i personally have had no issues with my hydraulic lifters which were just cleaned and set in an oil bath before assembly over 7 years ago. Over 8k RPM is cool IMO and if you are using the stock gearbox or just a box with longer ratios the higher rpm certainly could aid to maintain boost into the next gear as that was always something i struggled with as i have a 3582r also but a hypergear equivalent could aid that issue. In summary i would make a choice on the cam you want to use first then decide which springs and retainers work best with it and then you can toss up if you really need the solid lifters, if the car is mainly street i would learn towards keeping the hydraulic lifters as when installed properly and nothing too hektik going on around them they do the trick.
    • Yucky. Things haven't gotten any better though. Now you have Emerson and Honeywell pushing these massive DCS/Scada things with proprietary hardware. They're not a PLC, they're not a computer, they're a...distibuted PLCish/DCSish monster of thing, that only they can program because they make the barriers to entry for anyone else so fricking high. And their developers are all located in the third/developing world (and India, in case anyone does not include that place in that category) and there are terrible failings of the ESl variety, of the care and common sense variety, and f**king forget about Functional Safety. Not a one of them has any idea what it means to comply with an IEC 615xx series standard.
    • All of the ECU grounds are to the chassis, the IGN grounds are to the cylinder head and i believe all the OEM body harness are left in original locations, im trying to work out if i can tell if the sensor voltage itself is losing any power to it from the very low ECU voltage. But yeah a manual pressure gauge will help in picking which path to actually chase. Also please dont bully my wiring plan i never designed it to be universally understood hopefully it still can make sense to you, im a wiring virgin.  1 thing i have just noticed the pressure sensor in question relays both pressure and temperature, the temperature reading holds nice and steady despite the low ecu voltage but the pressure reading is the one that jumps around alot so maybe it is really a pressure issue? wiring plan.xlsx
