Deziner
I dont think they could defect you on stock stuff. And how could they tell someone with a stock GTR that they cant have a FMIC and will have to ditch one of there BOV's as well. GTR-N1
Nope, only if it's newer than 10 years old. Just went through the process with my daily driver. "Number Recognition" via RMS, has my car down as a "2011 R34 GT-R" Kat Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416453-defected/page/2/#findComment-6686516 Share on other sites
GTRKat
They can defect you for whatever they like unfortunately then up to you to get it passed at Dickson. Trozzle
My understanding for ACT rules regarding FMIC: If your vehicle was fitting with an intercooler mounted anywhere on the front of the car (side-mount counts) then you're perfectly within the rules to change to a proper front-mount intercooler provided that you didn't need to modify the chassis (cutting hole for return pipe) or reo bar in any way. Obviously it has to be mounted properly. Dickson had no problems with my front mount, and I don't believe it was noted on the engineer's report (well, at least not in the same way my turbo/suspension etc were). Mitcho_7
Nope, only if it's newer than 10 years old. Just went through the process with my daily driver. If its only there for a history check wouldn't they just need the vin etc not to look at everything on the car though? Because I thought you only did the history check etc after you got a rwc for interstate cars? I'm thoroughly confused on it! k_d
Its an ID check which is somehow supposed to check that the car hasnt been rebirthed or anything Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416453-defected/page/2/#findComment-6686752 Share on other sites
GTRKat
No idea! I'm just sayin to transfer my Beema from NSW rego to ACT rego all I had to do was go get it inspected at any authorised workshop (which I did) then took the paperwork to dickson with the old plates. Signed some shit, got new plates and was done. Was very easy. It's nice to have one car that is straight forward! Deziner
All I had to do for the GTR was get it inspected at Ultimate Tunes then go to Woden hand the old plates in and get the new. Maybe because the car was older than 10 years? I have to do my 2004 XT Forester in February so will be interested to see what I have to do for that. Mitcho_7
Yeh for some reason you only need the history check if it's less than 10 yrs old. I don't get why they need you to go to Dickson for it though... k_d
Yeh for some reason you only need the history check if it's less than 10 yrs old. I don't get why they need you to go to Dickson for it though... The idea behind the ID check is that its supposed to check that the car hasnt been rebirthed or anything Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416453-defected/page/2/#findComment-6688390 Share on other sites
Mitcho_7
The idea behind the ID check is that its supposed to check that the car hasnt been rebirthed or anything Yeh, I get that. But if it's only at Dickson for that can they still defect you? Sinista32
^ true. With out Rhyme or Reason. Right or Wrong. then comes the reeming by dickson. New cars from the lot can be defected and can fail a dickson inspection. Mitcho_7
Well that's a kick in the grundle then isn't it. Is there anyway to avoid the Dickson history check with a newer 2nd hand car? Like getting documents which show it's history from car dealer and previous owners etc or something along those lines? Why must they be such douchebags... Sinista32
before putting all this fear into the masses. They actually do their job, just sometimes it seems over zelous on the imports and modified vehicles. My main gripe is that alot of our cars are ALOT safer than most shitters on the road. Yet we appear to be the centre of their target (ing). Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416453-defected/page/2/#findComment-6689158 Share on other sites
Trozzle
Ahh, but they also have a habit of choosing when and when not to 'do their job' by selectively ignoring certain things....as well as not even knowing their own tech standards they should be following half the time. lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/416453-defected/page/2/#findComment-6689193 Share on other sites
