well....I'm not sure, I reckon it must have been a full moon or something last night.

Obviously Montoya had a shocker, you aren't meant to crash under safety car :P

But why was MS warming his brakes in a blind tunnel....he could have waited 100m where people could see him.....you can see from the video he was stopping so hard that he even locked up the front left!

But the one that had real brain fade was Alonso...why wouldn't he have waited and overtaken in the chicane just down the road.

And for that matter what the hell was fisi doing going full speed thru a huge cloud of smoke under yellow flags.

I reckon there'll be some pretty pissed of team bosses around now.

Fair enough he was warming his brakes but to the point where he's locked the wheel? I think that's a little too excessive.
MS was hardly on the racing line, their was an accident only 1-2 laps prior which was caused by the lack of grip off the racing line, it would have been quite easy for MS to lock his front left tyre just by being off-line.

I dont think MS hit the brakes very hard, its just that the brakes were cold, so they were grabby, plus after the race they mentioned that the tunnel is quite slippery, when going slow(no downforce)

so a combination of slippery surface and cold brakes would have caused the lockup, lockups are not uncommon, and come on, montoya must not have been paying attention!

At such lower speeds, there is no downforce on the cars. Also the tunnel is very slippery. It wouldnt of taken much to lock the wheel up. It came down to Montoya being way too close to Schumi, Trulli said he was too close to him and thought there could of been an accident, then there was. I think it would of been hard for Schui to still win, however the race was boring after he was out.

All i can say, is imagine if MS hit JPM. Im sure that the media, JPM and everyone else would have a totally different prespective on the incident. I dont rate JPM at all, i think he is a wild man, and is not a good driver. I mean the guy doesnt know how to overtake, he just trys and barge his way through, and 1/10 moves he makes will stick, then other 9 will end in some sort of accident. He has to re-asses himself and realise he is not the best. He believes he is the best driver on the circuit, typical attiitude coming from someone who raced in Indy.

In regards to Alonso and RS incident, according to alonso, RS slowed down in the tunnel, forcing alonso to overtake or lose even more time. He did then RS accelerated again forcing Alonso to stay wide in the dirty part of the track where he understeered into the barrier.

I thought it was the best race yet. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Ferrari, just no longer MS, and no not because of last night or anything. Just think he's a little bitch.

Anyway, I think what happened last night was fine, come on though, the guy never ever makes a mistake, and then when the brakes grab there has to be an excuse because he wouldn't do such a thing. I just don't see if he's so good outside the tunnel, why's he try warming his brakes when he would know theres no downforce and its a slippery part of the track, at slow speeds off the racing line. Montoya was close, to avoiding it, he sat against the wall.

Don't you think its strange that he didn't back off with the brakes and roll on again? I mean half the drivers here, if they had a lockup and couldn't steer, would back off and slide the brakes on smoothly again.

~ But yes, not slowing down into smoke and yellow flags, haha he deserved it. I think it was Coulthard that was on the end of that? Unlucky.

Webber out again, suprise suprise.

But yeah I liked it. Somebody else won for a change.

Actually while those guys were both geese last night, I'm amazed more accidents don't happen behind safety car and on warm up laps.

Rules are quite clear that you cannot "swerve excessively" or do "practice starts" while behind a safety car. you also have to maitain a gap of no more than 3 car lengths. These rules are broken all the time, in fact last night on the warm up lap there were cars doing practice starts on the grid while marshals stood next to them. Not good for safety.

And yes, I am bitter coz I got pinged for it once, luckily just a warning afterwards not a black flag during the race :P

those marshals wer crazy last nite. On the road waving yellows and some of the drivers werent slowing down. I must say last nite did so some real worrying signs about the so called "best" drivers in the world when they dont even follow all the basic rules as Duncan pointed out. Also drivers making fundamental mistakes aswell.... Hmmm

I know where your coming from! Exactly the same thing happened at our Victorian SAU Go Karting night in Victoria the other week. Very dissapointing... I think some heads should roll :P

the marshals last night had a deathwish for sure..

and im with duncan in saying that ms and montoya were both a bit dumb, but i think the blame still really lies with montoya, he was behind, and he is meant to be looking in front of him since he was going forward at that time in the race!

    • MR HAMMER has said his piece. Painted up to avoid Rusty Rusty. Actually lines up well. (i.e it lines up the same as the unmolested GTR guard). Turns out the GTR Strut brace does foul on the bonnet vents ever so slightly. May need a little bendy bendy if intended to keep using with a strut brace. So spacing it out to clear the FAST102 is not an option. Annoyingly, the bonnet vents also foul on the heater lines running over the engine. Given this engine does not EVER require a heater, a delete loop is going to be used. Don't worry, the defogger uses the AC. The heater is basically "Do not use the aircon and turn the fan on". It will still be effective, I promise.... once I get the system regassed... Will have to revisit with unvented bonnet I suppose, and suitable strut brace. There's plans to do this and other things tonight and bleed brakes (there was a weep) and put the bumper back on, and take Good Friday morning - Because troubleshooting on the side of the road limping it home at midnight tonight is ... not very smart.
    • Thank you all for you assistance. I contacted Nistune regarding the support for the RB20DE along with my ECU Code (23710-10U00). They do have a map for it and added the RB20DE as a purchasable option now as well. They also added Malta as a Billing and Delivery options as this was missing. I was honestly amazed at their quick response and action, it took less than 24 hours. I also looked again at direct fit options for injectors, just in case I were to replace them. DeatschWerks seem to use a Bosch EV14 base and makes ones that fit mine at 440cc lowest, but also have 550cc at the same price. I tried looking for other direct fit options and managed to find one (also Bosch EV14 based) which includes a plug and play adapter on ebay. Did a small test with a Noid Light on the troubled injectors and all seems good, so they are pulsing properly electrically. One weird part is that they are missing on the same two cylinders as before I got the injectors cleaned. Mechanic also found this weird as he did not label the injectors and it is unlikely to have the faulty injectors be installed in the same cylinders.
    • Nice, let me know how you find the 98 tune
    • Put a hand on an injector and see if that's what the buzzing is. You might be triggering the injectors by moving off idle command.
    • Ah, should have been clearer. Currently has a flex sensor installed all good to go.    like u mentioned, I’ve only ever known the car on e85, I might hate 98, but I have to try it out first. Everyone says the -5 turbos get pretty laggy on 98 octane tho…
