Hks Ssqv And Greddy Type S Surging

I have tried searching everywhere for answers on both BOVs but can't come up with anything.

So the situation is I have both the bovs. The problem is both these bovs are giving me compressor surge at light throttle.

Surge would mean spring is too stif,so the SSQV is as loose as it can get but still doing it.

On the type s,the valve is open at idle because the vacuum was pulling it open,I adjusted the screw on top so that it stays shut at idle,yes it stays shut at idle but it's too stiff to vent at even medium throttle.

The car is running stock boost (rb25) so I'm thinking boost might need to be raised to overcome spring pressure?

Even at light throttle (low boost-5 psi?) with it surging it wouldn't be enough to hurt the turbo?

Any help would be great.

OK. I'll bite. How the hell could it be surging at light load? There is no boost, and even if there is a little bosot you would be so far away from the turbo's surge line that there can be no surge.

If it's 100% recirculated then wind the spring off so that it is sucked open at idle and light load, like it should be.

You should just run the stock BOV, those fully sick atmospheric BOVs are trouble. Trouble with cops, trouble with fuel economy, trouble with randoming stalling, trouble with wallet, etc.

Why won't you use the stock one?

If you're running the SSQV, would running the EIDS help to fix this problem?

That idle stabiliser thng would help, but you're just installing a band aid on the self inflicted wound.

Also that fluttering won't damage any turbos, it is a myth. I've gone from stock to high flows to aftermarket turbos and never run any form of BOV and have never seen a turbo let go on me. Currently on my latest fridge, I'm not running a BOV either at 0.8bar on the stock ceramic snail. Still going strong, will trash it at Eastern Creek next weekend too.
