G'day all,

I drive a 93 R33 GTS-t and recently I have noticed a high pitch 'whistle' coming from the engine bay upon acceleration. I'm pretty sure its not the usual turbo spool and i'm just wondering what it could be and if it's normal??

Secondly, my drivetrain seems a bit noisy, again, im not sure if that is just a normal thing with a sports car as i've previously only driven family/luxury sedans which would have more sound proofing. I'm thinking its the gearbox because when the clutch is in, the noise goes away, however the gearbox feels pretty good.

Just wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions?? Thanks. :P

I can help with the gearbox noise, if it is noisey with your foot off the clutch in neutral and quiet with the clutch in it is caused by a worn thrust bearing. Just replace it when you next do the clutch.

The rest is hard to guess without hearing....do you have a pod filter? they can whistle sometimes as can a turbo

Heap it seems to do it mainly when its cold (not the engine, the ambient temp), and my car is 100% stock (as far as i know) so its not a pod or anything, although it sounds intake related (obviously). I'm going to get it serviced pretty soon, so i might ask them to keep an ear out...

As for driveline, symptoms are exactly as you describe, thanks for the help on that one.
