Legend thanks mate. Any chance fo posting up a couple of pictures of how you tied it to the hub? The pictures on p3 dont make it clear. Do you do the no limits events at barbagello?

Cheers

I will try and get some photos later in the week as the car is at Hyperdrive today getting the new new engine installed.

I have not done a no limits event yet but i do know Jai very well.

We should be racing this Sunday at Barbagallo so maybe pop up and have a look at in person and take some photos.

Wicked thanks mate. Will definitely try and pop by Barbagello this Sunday mate

cheers

Well I have had to bring the car home last night and park it up for this weekend. We have installed the new engine but the dry sump pump needs some work. Unfortunately when it is idling we are getting very low oil pressure at at revs it is over pressuring.

We will do calculations on pump flow etc, change the springs and hopefully that will sort our problem. So this weekend to be safe we will not be running.

I am disappointed as it is our last race meet for the year. I will do a tuning day or 2 and a sprint in December once we have sorted the dry sump pump.

Very nice build, how did you find the hfm rear brake package on the track? They look huge with the stock calipers

They are no longer on the car.

They did help with some cooling of the rear brakes but did alter the balance of the car a bit.

For the road they are a cheap upgrade.

Amid,

You are correct, that is me entered for the NL day. Only if my new dry sump pump turns up in time along witht the below new part ordered last week.

I will be using the day to get seat time and to run in the engine as well as iron out any bugs if they turn up. I will not be chasing times but if a lap happens to get timed then so be it. ???post-13913-0-89135200-1414814720_thumb.jpg

Things have been slow, I am still waiting on the new dry sump pump and hopefully that will be ready in the next week or so.

In the meantime I ordered a Aviaid billet Aluminium dry sump pan which turned up today.

Hopefully it should be ready for the February SES Sprint art Barbagallo raceway.

Great build thread, car has come a long way.

What's the plans in terms of future events?

Have you fitted the dry sump setup yet? And the new rear brakes, not sure if I missed that or not.

The new pan is now on the car along with the ATI harmonic balancer and power steering pump bracket. It will be nice to have power steering back.

We are still waiting on the new dry sump pump and bracket, hopefully this will be sorted in the next week or 2.

The brakes were fitted a while back and work well so far.

The car will be entered into the Street car class over here in WA with selected runs in the Speed Event Series. I also hope that in about 2 or 3 years time that I along with a few others will bring a few cars over to the east to have some fun at some different tracks.

The class I am involved with website is : http://streetcarracing.net/

shitty phone pics of the sump pan etc.

It has been a long wait but the car was finished last week just in time for the first race meeting of the year.

We also changed some of the suspension settings which made the front nicer and the back was sloppy as shit under brakes and not putting the power down the way it was. So back to the drawing board to work out where to go next with the rear end.

It was nice to be out on the track again even though I was pretty rusty.

I qualified a bit of the pace but confidence grew as the night went along.

The video did not start for race 2 otherwise here they are including an oopsy I had where I hit Craig in the WRX in his right rear wheel at the end of lap 1 race 1 then we had a drag race to the line on the last lap where Craig was able to get there by 0.0782 of a second. Both our wheels will need some repair and we both were able to continue.

Looks like killer fun, bit of a bummer knocking into the WRX. He was in no-mans land out there hard to either of you to know that the other was going to do.

It was a great night especially after being out of the seat since last July. Now too get used to it, sort out the rear handling issues and back at the track in 2 weeks time then we are combining with IPRA guys as a support event for the V8's in May.

I was a bit optimistic with that pass but I thought he was staying wide but that is racing. It was all good after with no hard feelings.

Been a bit slow with updates from the last race meet on the 12th April.

We put a rear wing on it to help settle the back and reduce wheel spin over the hump on the back straight. I am pleased to report that the wing has made a massive difference even with near bald tyres and the dampness on the track all day.

Race 2 I had a good start and was ready for some great racing when the gear selector fork jammed on me when trying to go from 4th to 5th gear.

The car is now ready to go for this coming weekend as the supports for the V8 Supercar's Supersprint.

Wing fitted using dodgy brackets, I am planning on making nicer brackets and fitting a drift lip for a smoother look.

Well it has been a busy beginning to the year and I am a bit behind in updates.

We were on the V8 Supercars card as a support event with the Improved Production guys.

I had a up and down weekend that started great in quali and race 1 then went down hill when I broke something in the gearbox in race 2 which meant the dogbox had to come out and a standard box dropped back into it over night and race 3 was under a cloud due the accident at the front of the field on the first corner of the first lap.

We all got good coverage for Race 2 by Foxtel, it was a pity that the race went under safety car and the 2 classes could not fully show case how good the racing is over here.

In the middle of May 2 weeks after the V8 round we were down south at the Collie Motorplex for our next round. Not many in our class made the trek. It was a wet and cold weekend on a tight track.

My weekend started good but unfortunately half way through race 2 I had slight contact with another car which bent my right front LCA. That was the good bit, the bad bit was something shorted in the engine bay and I had a engine bay fire. I was out of the car extremely fast. So anyway we are are back home with the entire front of the car stripped. The engine is being checked and anything that needs replacing is being replaced.

So we have a fair bit of work to do, this has also allowed me to spend a bit of time on my 180SX sports Sedan, it will be running in the next week or so and then I will put it up for the sells.

    • I chose a bad time to buy, at the time there was no gtst's for sale in NSW and my options were qld, vic, or sa and not the greatest examples or too far out of my budget. Ended up picking this one from adelaide sight unseen and got a bit stitched up as you could expect but i dont fully regret it, its just a shame people cant be more transparent in this day and age.
    • IMO just buy a whole R33 transmission and swap the whole thing. Use a palm nailer/air hammer with a roll pin punch to drive the shifter rod end roll pins out. The rod end is discontinued so don't break it. Use gasket dressing on the OEM paper gasket instead of RTV. I personally would not pry on the shifter cover tabs, I broke one trying that instead of just smacking the side with a dead blow rubber mallet to shock it loose from the RTV the last mechanic applied. If you can't get the flanges totally clean and free of any residual RTV and/or you might have a gap that is bigger than it should due to flange damage use RTV on that surface instead of the OEM specced anaerobic sealer. Anaerobic sealer is most likely the right sealant for the job, it's just too easy to mess it up with too large a gap or bad surface prep/roughness seemingly. If you do rebuild what you have it's for a whole gearset that can take high torque. Don't bother with OEM at that point.
    • Little hose. Big hose. They're all waiting to kill the engine.

    • Full e85 barrell stuff real world for reference if it helps as Ive pushed 2 x sets injectors to limit Above mentioned Bosch 1480cc run on 4 bar base to the apparent 1650cc on rb2.7 yielded 912hp / 684  kw  at 92% duty on hub dyno ID1700's - RB 2.8 ...1015hp / 760 kw at 87% duty - hubber dyno + shown off data on track my opinion IF you change injectors just go bigger than you think you need the modern/ good larger ones run just fine if tuned properly even if way bigger than required even on streeters
