my GTR has no speedo read out, and the odometer doesnt roll out,

generally, people would say its the cable, and therefore not give me power steering and hicas lights turn on

but i have full power steering, and hicas works, regardless of the light coming on after i reach the end of my street.

the 4WD light is also constanly on, and the front torque never goes above 0?

can anything else be wrong that i dont know how to fix?

and i think one turbo is blown cause it doesnt reach boost but can reach 0 vaccum.

i just wanna check possibilities so i know what to buy next if one thing doesnt work to another or simple checks i should be doing?

So to clear up, no speedo or odometer (possible cable, PS is fine with hicas)

Hicas light stays off on initial start up, until moving

No boost, good vaccum to 0 psi (probably blown turbo)

4WD light always on no matter what and torque split doesnt move upon acceleration (probably cause no boost/no accelerating hard enough?)

Would anyone know how to check these things simply, and what would need replacing?

thanks :) just joined this forum!

Dont drive it untill u have checked turbo's. if it has popped and u keep driving the engine can ingest ceramic dust leading to a rebuild.

Remove the speedo cable and check its condition. Its common for them to break

Read the attessa code (flashing LED) under rear parcel shelf and then google which fault code u have

Yea not driving it anymore cause no rego lol, but just a friendly question, how would the engine ingest the dust if its on the exhaust side always pushing out?

gave me most answers in one post! thanks man! :)

The exhaust pulses only happen during the exhaust stroke. Turbo spinning at 125000rpm or so and shattering gets thrown back up the exhaust ports and enter the engine.

Has happened more times than not unfortunately.

Ahh true haha, how would i go about searching for the symptoms for a blown exhaust wheel?

and if its notthe speedo cable and its not the cluster or fuse, what would be another cause of speedo failiure ?

i still have full power steering and hicas still works which are 2 main symptoms of speedo failiure as they need the speed signal?

The speedo is mechanical, so all it has is a speedo drive in the gearbox - a speedo cable - speedometer in the cluster.

Pull the cluster out slowly and check the cable is still inserted in the speedometer.

While the cluster is out drive the car forward or backwards alowly and check if the cable is spinning, if its not the it mean either the cable or speedo drive has an issue

Follow Jez's advice ^

I hope you haven't recently bought your GTR :/

Edit: Terry - beleive they would just remove the cluster and insert drill in cable receptor - turn on reverse.

Peeps who dont know better take the cover off and disengage dial gears somewhat and use force.

Hence numbers not ligning up perfectly.

Understand - Ta

Next Q:- By removing the cable, does one use a tool (eg pliers) that will leave a telltale mark on the collar so to speak? Just wondering if this is what one might look for to identify tampering?

PS:- sorry to hijack this thread

Hey anDreeZy I'd be checking that the fuses are in for the awd (attessa) there are two of them one in the fusebox under the bonnet and another in the interior fusebox, also check that there hasn't been a switch put in to dis engage the awd somewhere... another thing to check is the attessa fluid level in the reservoir in the boot.

As for the speedo its almost certainly the cable (my old gtr had a broken speedo cable yet I still had power steering) as already mentioned pull the cluster out and drive back and fourth to check the cable... if it is broken I'd recommend getting a new genuine one from nissan I ordered one for a gts4 which is the same cable as gtr (rwd ones are too short) anyway the cable was only $120 from nissan so not worth buying a second hand one imo.
