The Turrr sound is BAD.... well sounds bad, that was on stock boost.... maybe higher boost will have the desired sound your after.... ot maybe just a louder TRRRRRRRR sound.

I have the Blitz BOV and it makes 1 single realese noise PCHHHHT although you can tighten the spring (via screw) and it will make less noise and tighten it enough you get the TRRRRR sound. After being D fected (Blitz bov was unhooked due to manifold work) i decided ill leave the stock one going for a while.....

block up stock bov or tighten aftermarket venting BOV or run no bov, it helps if u hav a exposed pod as the air escapes thru it, also type of cooler pipes, shape, length etc. how is the flutter different to the dut dut dut (are youreferring to the vl noise?). i hear some turbo cars which actually hav the BOV PSSSHHHfirst and then the flutter directly after, not the flutter during back off in low revs and the psssht while on boost as people usually think, any idea how this is achived out of curiousity

well there is heaps o fideas here but the general feeelin im getting is that it can caome from a sequential bov like a hks ssqv and i right. But also it can come from taking the bov off....but that is not a good idea? if im right can ne1 recommend ne good BOVs for this sound?

If you lossen the springs on your BOV/BOV's then you can get them to bounce on TC.

The ch ch ch sound CAN come from the valve opening then bouncing off the releasing air pressure because the valve spring is wound right off.

People with SSQ don't need to do this to get this effect to some degree because they have two seperate valves that are different sizes and spring rates therefore open at different boost levels. So that is why under a full boost/load release you can hear a puuuuush...ch ch ch. Its the large valve opening followed by the smaller valve flapping after the bigger valve has closed again.

Its also depends whether its a push type or pull type valve. One is better than the other if you're chasing the noise... whatever...

You guys can work out which one is better..

I always thought that cha cha cha was some kind of latino dance move?????

Sebaz

your mate doesent know shit :D

external gates has exhaust gas flowing through it, not the compressed air from the turbo.

How true is your first remark..

and look at some of the other replies to this post.. people still believe that a bov is going to make that sound..

I don't know why I bother giving decent replies sometimes..

I say GTST .... let em do there own R'N'D. That way when they spend way too much $$$$ they might listen to the advice given to them....

This is a public forum, and everyone is a car mechanic ... I mean i invented the wheel, space, earth, stars.... oh hang on.... no i just created everything on the 8th day

don't lie.. we both know I invented the wheel.. not you..

I guess it's like when you're younger and your parents say, don't do this or this will happen or study hard and get your edumacation done so you have more opportunities in the future..

and kids always have to try those things that there parents told them not to do and then go .. oh yeah.. they were right..

oh well. I thought that when it comes to spending money, people might actually listen instead of wasting there money... but.. live and learn I guess... who was it above.. spent $600 on an ARC bov... $600 for a bov?? it is a damn piston, spring and casing... with an adjustment screw on top.. you could make on in metal work class in year 10 if you wanted to..

or you could just realise that you can use the stock one with no problem until way over 200rwkw..

bah!! in the end, people are just STUPID.

On that note..

I have an APEXI TWIN CHAMBER bov for sale..

as used in the fast and furious.. on that supra in the first movie.. it's fully sick and twice as good as any other bov due to it having twice the number of CHAMBERS..

AND, it's shiny, giving it the ability to make all sorts of noises.. AND, it has a different adjuster which you can turn to make it make different noises.. REALLY..

$250 - special offer for all you mechanics.

and if you really want to believe it, the secondary chambers piston flaps around and dances to make all sorts of wonderful noises..

i didnt pay $600 for it, it was in my half cut i bought for my r31 rb20det conversion, but they retail for around $600, hard to find though, i had to do some research to find out a bit more bout it cause i wasnt to familiar with arc stuff, but found a few places that sell em and they are expensive as hell, but i dont care i got it free :D i would only ever pay up to $200 for a bov

a plumb back bov will make hardly any noise...

it will simply be a slight whoosh noise.

if you buy an aftermarket plumback like say from GFB, it will make less noise than the stock skyline plumback bov.

Benefit = skylines have an air flow meter. this measures the amount of air being passed through it and tells the ECU to supply enough fuel for the mixture. when you change gears, the plumback bov dumps this air back in to the air inlet so it is still in the system. with an atmo venting bov, the air gets out of the system via the bov but the ecu still supplies the fuel for the air that was measured as it went past the air flow meter.

so this causes temporary over fueling or running rich.

due to this overfueling a couple of things can/do happen.

1.) backfire on gear change or when you back off the throttle to slow down.

2.) black puff of smoke from exhaust when you get back on the gas after changing gears.

3.) stalling when coming to a stop at lights or intersections.

4.) sometimes car feels sluggish due to rich mistures.

5.) spark plugs foul up quicker.

6.) extra black shit on your rear bumper from the rich fumes out of the exhaust.

with a plumback bov, none of the above issues arrise..

does that answer your question?

your mate doesent know shit :D

external gates has exhaust gas flowing through it, not the compressed air from the turbo.

Thats wat i told him. he talks alot of shit and thinks he knows heaps about cars. not like you guys... you know wat you're talking about. i think i know who my real friends are now. :)

Has anyone ever told you that you should work in sales?

You crack me up Tolga....

so does ne1 reakon a GFB stealth FX would b a good choice of a BOV?

No.

at $500 odd retail, why waste your money.

the purpose of that bov is so that you have it on full plumback when on street and then atmo when on the track for the full sick effect.

HOWEVER, if you have it on your car and set to plumback on the street and the cop checks it over and sees this big ass bov with a trumpet hanging off the side, he will defect you even if it is not set to atmo or half half..

do you have a stock bov? YES

are you running more than 18psi? - probably not

then don't worry about it..

use that $500 to buy a set of whiteline anti-sway bars... at least they AID performance..

    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
    • looking forward to your t56 swap man its a game changer if it works!
    • So, when are you trying the new GR86 or BRZ?
    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
