Hi everyone,

I've been gazing upon this on ebay, and was wondering why nobody has fronted the cash on such a nice Hakosuka?

Is it possibly because they're asking too much?

Has the car got some dodgy history?

Is the importer not reputable?

I'm just interested to know, as Japanese cult classics are starting to rise in promience, both here and overseas and simply why this particular Hakosuka has not been snapped up by a keen skyline enthusiast?

(here's the link for those of you who haven't seen it on ebay):

Anyway, thoughts?

I just assumed it was a fake, isn't the original engine worth more than the asking price for this car? Not that it would bother me, I would love to drive it either way but 50k for a 40 year old Datsun?

lol, it's not actually listed as a genuine but a clone, but could be right 50k does seem steep, however, it's hard to price a hakosuka clone as there's literally a hand full in Australia

Cheaper to get one imported from Japan especially with the Au$ being about 93yen. For example:

Now this interests me lol, since i can't read Japanese, i'm guessing, but is that 268 million yen? If so, i'm guessing that's under 30k for a hakosuka clone?

LOL! @ all the KGC10 with GTR badges on it.

No way I am paying $48K+ for something that has a L20 in it.

S20 all the way.

If I'd pay up for a L Series engine, I'd look for a 240Z / 260Z / 280ZX.

So much love for Edward Lee lol, just spent a good solid hour doing some Edward lee readings...his business is not well liked at all lol...especially those supra owners...they were pissed lol

C'mon guys, anyone who is serious about buying a C10 or a C110 would do some homework, and learn pretty quickly that this car is a replica. No one is "being ripped off". The engine isn't an L20 either, it's a stroked L28 with triples, a pretty nice engine. The car is expensive yes but it's nice. As for paying 50k for a 40 year old Datsun...well that's a matter of taste. I know what I'd prefer.

poor bastard that bought a fake.

Virtually all of them are fakes! The buyer knew exactly what he was buying, and there's no attempt by the dealer to mis-represent it. I'm all for sinking the boot into dealers where possible, but this car seems to be a pretty decent thing according to the new owner.

Couldn't' agree more. I'm know nothing about this dealer but agree that anyone buying a car like this does homework and knows what they are buying. If you don't, you're an idiot.

    • I was thinking you wouldn't be that silly to buy a yellow 400Z lol. Not to mention, you don't live in an apartment
    • Well, in that case it is either completely normal accel enrichment, or it is completely abnormal accel enrichment, caused by a problem that we will be unlikely to be able to guess at this distance, but which will turn out to be f**king weird.
    • Aye I know, tried getting it back yesterday via the normal methods, now I’ve signed up to be meta verified and touched base with support. They are escalating it to their team. So will see what happens!
    • @DaymoR32 your IG account just got rekt... Someone has hacked it, all this crypto BS and you've bought a 400Z in yellow lol.. Pure bullshit
    • I also think it comes down to the dollars spent for quality items, there's some cheapie versions out there, which look fine, but, there are versions of much higher quality out there, but, you obviously pay more for the quality of materials used and quality control When I first got work done by Advan Performance on my old R33 the silicone joiners were cheapies and actually blew out on a joiner heading to the plenum, when I then took it to Unigroup they said that the silicone hoses they used and were junk, Unigroup replaced every hose on the engine with much higher quality items and from then I never had a issue with any hose Additional cost and quality gets you quality silicone base materials and quality reinforcement fabric stuff As for OEM rubber hoses, again, quality materials and strict quality control will give you quality hoses, but only to OEM spec, I believe using quality silicone replacements is a upgrade I  saying this I have only dealt with vehicles I own and play with
