goingforadds
Hi everyone, I've been gazing upon this on ebay, and was wondering why nobody has fronted the cash on such a nice Hakosuka? Is it possibly because they're asking too much? Has the car got some dodgy history? Is the importer not reputable? I'm just interested to know, as Japanese cult classics are starting to rise in promience, both here and overseas and simply why this particular Hakosuka has not been snapped up by a keen skyline enthusiast? (here's the link for those of you who haven't seen it on ebay): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1972-Nissan-Skyline-Hakosuka-2000GT-Red-M-Coupe-/280854798483?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item4164402093 Anyway, thoughts? scotty nm35
I just assumed it was a fake, isn't the original engine worth more than the asking price for this car? Not that it would bother me, I would love to drive it either way but 50k for a 40 year old Datsun? *LOACH*
Cheaper to get one imported from Japan especially with the Au$ being about 93yen. For example: http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU0004940125/index.html?TRCD=200002 http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU0004940125/index.html?TRCD=200002 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417696-the-edward-lee-hakosuka/#findComment-6705612 Share on other sites

Not that it would bother me, I would love to drive it either way but 50k for a 40 year old Datsun? lol, it's not actually listed as a genuine but a clone, but could be right 50k does seem steep, however, it's hard to price a hakosuka clone as there's literally a hand full in Australia Cheaper to get one imported from Japan especially with the Au$ being about 93yen. For example: http://www.carsensor...tml?TRCD=200002 http://www.carsensor...tml?TRCD=200002 Now this interests me lol, since i can't read Japanese, i'm guessing, but is that 268 million yen? If so, i'm guessing that's under 30k for a hakosuka clone? (OO)SKYLINE(OO)
LOL! @ all the KGC10 with GTR badges on it. No way I am paying $48K+ for something that has a L20 in it. S20 all the way. If I'd pay up for a L Series engine, I'd look for a 240Z / 260Z / 280ZX. alex182
i think there was a thread on this when that red hako first landed. it was deduced that it was just wasn't an actual GTR Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417696-the-edward-lee-hakosuka/#findComment-6753336 Share on other sites
Iron Chef
In fairness, I don't think anyone was claiming it was - a real one would be closer to $100K landed here. That one is now sold, and is residing in Adelaide. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417696-the-edward-lee-hakosuka/#findComment-6753457 Share on other sites

t5iv
Ac cobra replicas still go for decent money. They're "just" replicas. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417696-the-edward-lee-hakosuka/#findComment-6756645 Share on other sites
Adzmax
C'mon guys, anyone who is serious about buying a C10 or a C110 would do some homework, and learn pretty quickly that this car is a replica. No one is "being ripped off". The engine isn't an L20 either, it's a stroked L28 with triples, a pretty nice engine. The car is expensive yes but it's nice. As for paying 50k for a 40 year old Datsun...well that's a matter of taste. I know what I'd prefer. Iron Chef
poor bastard that bought a fake. Virtually all of them are fakes! The buyer knew exactly what he was buying, and there's no attempt by the dealer to mis-represent it. I'm all for sinking the boot into dealers where possible, but this car seems to be a pretty decent thing according to the new owner.
