Hi,
Just started a new R32 GTR Dedicated Rally Car build...
After putting Kermit into a concrete barrier in the rain last July, I am slowly getting the parts together to build another one..
Previous car straight after the "incident" with the wall at around 160 kph plus..

Then sourced the ex Brighty R32 GTR to use as the new donor shell c/w cage from Brad

Gave the shell a clean up-removed old stickers etc and then put on my trailer ready for Marc and Josh at C-Red to make it roll.. ready for Phil at AFM to ensure the chassis is straight-seam welding and panel and painting etc

Also purchased a Jun carbon fibre lip, CF wing and CF font grill as well as another set of original front guards/original bonnet and a new front radiator mount from Northside Nissan.

Once the car comes back from Phil at AFM ( panel and painted in the retro red white and blue Richards/Skaife livery)I will update with the mechanical details.

cheers

Interested to see how those door trims go. I have had my eye on them for quite a while but as you say, worried about them fouling on the side intrusion.

All looking great!

Hey,

Yeah, I have been looking at the Bee R door trims for a while and then one night after a few bourbs...I needed to have them....

I have attached a few shots I took this morning to give you an idea of what you get..( the doors are still off the new race car so I cant try them in situ yet...another week or so and i will find out)

The fit will clearly depend on the measurement between the intrusion bars and the actual body(ie: how wide the the tab is that is welded to the cage) if you follow me..

Drivers side and passenger side trims are around 50mm "thk"

Drivers side then slims down to around 30mm "thk"

Passenger side stays at around 50mm thk

Drivers side is about 30mm thk up in the top left corner, then blends up to 50mm thk as you get close to the door handle.

Note that both trims are 50mm at the top where they hook over the door....

Passenger is 30mm thk at top right corner then steps up another 20mm ( which makes it a pretty contant 50mm thk)

Hey,

Its a no go to start with.....pretty expensive to just put them on a streeter etc so I am just about to "try" a couple of things with some mild heat and try to shape them in a couple of places....the drivers side just "touches" the cross bars so a smidge of heat just might do the trick ......but the passenger side( which has different shape-profile) might be a litlle trickier to re shape.....

I will let you know in the necxt couple of weeks.....

cheers

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
