It's a bit like how the improvement in CSI techniques has forced people who steal cars to completely torch them rather than just dump them ..... sad in a lot of ways.

I have seen this car around a fair bit, idiots!

I agree with harsher penalties causing more of this to an extent, but theres that little switch in everyone, every single time i saw lights on behind me my instinct was oh shit gotta pull over, regardless of the situation. thinking i could get away never even crossed my mind. to be the kinda person that even would contemplate initiating a car chase, wow, dont buy a import for our sake.

Couldnt agree more. If anyones ever watched the show COPS you'll know that trying to leg it basically confirms a suspicion of guilt. After all, if you've nothing to hide, why run?

Because if a cop sees you boot it away from a set of lights to 60km/h and wants to pull you over for street racing, it's going to be your word against his. Like I said, being told you're guilty until you prove you're innocent changes the whole dynamic.

And just because you guys don't feel the need to run (and I don't either) doesn't mean that, in that split second, someone else won't make the wrong choice knowing their car is going to be impounded and they're going to lose their licence for 12 months if they stop.
