Haha or NOS...2 of the big ones...Nah, once you hit 400kw there is no longer simple answers...could you use less boost of the line maybe through the first 2 gears...then jack it up to finish

If I was going to build a drag car I'd be running an auto anyway, it must be annoying you the illusive 10...

I've tried starting on low boost then going to high midway through third but it didn't really help, I found modulation of the throttle and clutch the best so far, the hardest bit is the launch, trying to find the sweet spot between wheelspin and bogging down.

Every day is different I've found, between launch RPM,air temp, track temp, tyre pressure and size of burnout.

What worked last week generally won't work the next week.

It is frustrating but fun at the same time.

My birds alfa will spin the wheels if you mash the pedals, its all about good throttle control.

I can launch fairly hard and with good throttle and clutch control get the power to the ground with minimal wheel spin, my tyres are 255, power is a tad over 500 hp.

Do some driver training days and/ or track days and learn how to drive a car with a hi power motor.

Putting down the power is a skill that needs to be learnt.

Otherwise old mate in his 100 hp auto lancer will smoke you.

I'm not taking the piss here, I've talked to people who claim their car will spin the wheels in the first three gears, why, because they just drop the clutch and mash the pedal.

With great power comes great responsibility.

The skyline has f**k all compared to my old cars

growing up in snow country and road racing sports cars for a while i do know how to drive it

the car is very sensitive to drive with no weight on bumpy ass roads in oz

Too stiff is a big issue and lack or torque down low on rb25 till it hits some boost at 3500 ish

Softer rear end would be a lot better hook up

I've seen a lot of 25,s at trackdays that go well on street tyres without excessive wheel spin, its all of the mechanical skills plus being able to read the road and drive to the conditions.

Each to their own I suppose.

but the thing is if u want to go fast on a track or accelerate hard, then you gotta mash the pedal, no?? Else you will hardly be faster than a v6 commy. Well initially, anyway..

Did you really just say that?

Wow man...

Throttle control is about using the throttle so that you do NOT wheelspin, whilst using maximum amount of throttle.

Watch V8 Supercars on TV when they have the camera on the pedals. They don't mash it out of the corner - they progressively apply the throttle so that the car does not wheelspin, and is thus - faster.

Ha ha your right, I have yet to learn n fine tune some driver skills

so throttle control applies to coming out of corners but in a straight line do they not just mash it? If your already in a straightline, then with a good setup it should swat down and pretty much dig in,

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
