hey guys i was wondering if u could tell me if this is achievable and with what extra mods?? i was thinking fmic, 3inch zorst turbo back, gtr fuel pump, fuel reg.

is there anything else i'd need or what that be capable of making it??

also when we put the turbo on it was different to another r34 turbo we had, the exhaust housing was twice as big and had some codes written on it???

any help would be great,

thanx guys.....brett

You're almost there... Need ECU and EBC, dunno if your turbo is ceramic, if so you will struggle to maintain reliability. Use only quality fuel.. 1.0bar should get you round 200rwkw.

TT

If I were doing it this is what I would do.

1. PowerFC

2. Heavy Duty Wastegate actuator for 14-15psi

3. Bleeder to give us that extra 1 or 2 psi we may need (16-17psi)

4. Adj. Cam gears

5. 3.5" turbo back exhaust, 3.5" Cat

6. Nice clutch

If I had the money

A 256dur inlet & 264dur exhaust cam.

I've been down the EBC route.

Don't waste your money on it for that power level.

A heavy duty wastegate is a better option.. Control the boost with your right foot.

I've been running ~17psi through the stocker turbo for some time now and unless I've got over 3500rpm and 1/2 throttle on board it won't make that boost.

For me a low boost setting is useless as you either want to put your foot down or you don't.

on an Rb25 its very doable, on an RB20 im unsure....?

can i ask why did you choose the R34 turbo? i find them to be extremely fragile and not capable of running high boost reliably....

they spool quickly, but thats it? in any case, i see "big boost" the only way to get 200kw, so i dont know if the R34 turbo was the best choice?

the r34 turbo that i bought has a steel exhaust wheel and seems to be bigger than standard (exhaust housing) which is strange coz it still has the nylon compressor wheel???

anyway i bought it coz it was cheap and my mate was fitting it for me and for the power im looking for it seemed big enough, maybe ill do the mods ive mentioned and see how i go?? but i was just seeing if anyone thought it might be possible.

also the exhaust housing had some different codes written on it and there was a number on the side of it which was 5 (my mate said something about 5cm cubed or squared??) and another stock r34 turbo we had there had 2 written on it?? it was strange, as for spooling quickly im running 14psi atm and hitting full boost at aprox 4000-4500rpm??

this may not be what you want to hear but,

a r34 turbo is definetly capable of 200rwkw it just depends what dyno you run it on.

I should know, my car seems to have about a 30kw difference depending what dyno i'm on.

btw- my r34 turbo is high flowed and makes about 220rwkw on a dynologic dyno.

Previous owner put the R34 turbo on, i never asked why, suppose he just wanted more power and not spending over a grand.

I did a 14.0 running 1 bar same as on dyno, but i had some ordinary gear changes and lack of grip. Still did a 2.0 60 footer on 205's, Clutch was a bit hot :P

Problem is i can't make boost earlier, how can i do this? When in third gear going down the 1/4 i look at the boost controler and its only making 1bar at 5000rpm.

In first gear it doesnt go above .92 bar coz it climbs to quick... Anyone got some suggestions?

Flaps,

Based on the mph ,60ft time , terminal speed and the fact that the R32 is lighter than an R33 I'd say the dyno of 189rwkw was very generous. Ot at least the 189rwkw you got is lower than the 175rwkw I had when doing a 13.3 @106mph in a heavier R33 gtst with the factory turbo at 10psi. Makes me wonder about shootout mode, since thats what mine was done on.

I'm going to say 'no' to the question of 200rwkw on the RB20 with a stock R34 gtst turbo.

simon,

I reckon your 'stock' rb20 turbo was not really all that stock. At least your 190rwkw was backed up by the cars performance.

It was stock as a rock. I ran 13.3 on stock turbo then 12.8 on a hi flow turbo.

Brians "NICE" r32 gts-t made 270rwhp on its stock turbo .

    • It doesn't really answer your question...but is the head unit full android or just android auto, are you happy with how quickly it boots and responds, and do you have a link?  If we can identify good Android alternatives it will really help people stuck with Japanese screens. Did it have a separate reverse camera input so you would replace the factory one, or are you just going without now...that would be a pretty big steps back. And finally, do you have a picture of the "wire" that you can't plug in? Most likely it is some sort of aerial that is not too important eg japanese traffic or am radio or something if you haven't noticed a functionality issue
    • haha funny enough I did ask him wtf he had been up to with the electrics....but no answer
    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
