The engine seems to be in great condition and goes very well. There doesn't appear to be any engine leaks or weird noises.

Driveline:

V4 STI 5 speed gearbox and diffs (4.44)

Standard spec. organic clutch

The gearbox seems to be in good condition, with no real grinds or anything. It sometimes feels like it could engage 2nd more easily, but this could be due to worn shifter bushes. The shifter is very sloppy and it's bushes are most likely worn. There appears to be a bit of a leak from the centre diff. I'm very conscious of the gearbox when i'm driving, with no hard shifts or launches.

BC BR gold series coilovers (less than 5000kms old)

The car handles really well.

I broke part of the right hand side handbrake assembly when upgrading the brakes, so had to remove it from the hub. My handbrake therefore does not work at the moment. It hasn't bothered me so far, but i did plan to either fix the assembly, find a spare one, or install a hydraulic handbrake. The Intima SR pads are pretty new and are suitable for temps up to 700C (ie. track).

Wheels and Tyres:

Tyres are in pretty good condition, as are wheels.

The body is pretty straight, with the odd small bump here and there. The car has been resprayed at some stage and looks pretty good when clean. There is however some area where the clear coat has blistered. The roof has completely lost it's clear coat. The boot has a blister of about 20x20cm and the rear a-pillar has one of about 7x20cm. I've also just added a MY99 grill and spoiler, and these have just been quickly rattle canned black. For an additional $500 i can have the roof, boot, a-pillar, spoiler and grill painted.

Interior:

The interior is in pretty good condition. There is the usual rip in the drivers seat bolster, minor fading of the door trims, slight scratching of the centre console, and a hole in the drivers side carpet.

I don't really want to sell my car... I've been devoting quite a bit of time and money to it in the last 12 months, trying to get it to just the way i want. Unfortunately though, as I'm going to go back to full time study this year, I don't think i can afford to hang onto it. My build thread (link below) should give you some good info on the car. I don't think it would need much for a roadworthy. It passed a RWC less than a year ago. If you have any questions, or would like to check it out, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Don't be deterred by the "issues" I've listed. I'm just being honest about the car, and these issues are really not that bad. Most 15 year old cars are no longer perfect... better to know the issues before you buy rather than after. The car has been very reliable. I was planning to use it as a track car and i believe it would be up for the job.

I've been under the car today, and noticed that the oil leak appears to be coming from the very rear of the transmission, and is most likely due to a worn output shaft seal. From what i've been told, this would not be a huge job to replace.

To eliminate the shifter slop, TIC offers a linkage update for $80 (http://www.entra.com.au/tic-5mt-linkage-update/)

I haven't contacted any wreckers about a handbrake assembly yet, but i just saw an STI (wont fit) one on ebay for $70. It should be pretty easy to find this part from most wreckers as it's the sameas that of any subaru with an r160 diff (ie. most).

I've been in contact with a painter who has quoted me $300 to fix the blistered clear coat, with a little more to paint the spoiler and grille (all up less than $500).

I will accept $9000 with the following items removed:

... standard items will be fitted instead. The car won't be making 217kw like this, but should be making good power over stock due to the VF22, exhaust, and intake. The braking capability should be still quite good with the upgraded 4 pots up the front. In my opinion you'll still be left with a quick, great handling and stopping street car that could handle the track too.

I will also consider straight swaps with the parts removed.

    • Yeah, it is possible. But like many related things (ie, alternators), it's getting harder to find anyone who does and will, given the change to just throwing shit away and replacing with new cheap shit from Chinese factories. If you want to pursue the option of rebuilding, you'll have to dig up an auto A/C specialist or three to find out whether they still do.
    • There are a few, but not that many. Also, there are no such rules when it comes to importing, just taxes and paperwork in general. The only rule I can think of is excise tax, which is 3.1% for cars with an engine under 2 liters and 18.6% over. About mods coming to the car, I've already bought Tein Flex Z coilovers and TE37s S Plus in diamond dark gunmetal (front 8.5" x 18" +35, rear 9.5" x 18" +22). Rims will be here in March. When the car arrives, I'll probably do a custom turboback and some exterior mods. I will keep you updated on my progress here! :)

    • Hi can anyone shed some light, pin 104 and 106 from rb26 ecu is not connected is this important? If so will i need the fpcm and wire this in?    car runs but lumpy and sparks plugs getting really black soot on them. Fueling issues by looks of it have t attached these 2 wires as dont know where it goes?
