Wondering where people have sourced their engine hoses from. JustJap can't supply them at the moment, eBay has a few. Autobahn88 have theirs which i am leaning towards. Does any one know where to source genuine Nissan hoses from and are the silicone ones I have mentioned as good.

Not topic specific but I have recently built my motor and opted to go with the ASI hoses off ebay (similar to autobahn88)

they set me back next to nothing and the kit was both good quality and came with every hose that it should have. Fitment was perfect, I just needed to buy worm drive clamps as the silicon hoses are a little fatter.

The silicon will outlive the stock rubber hoses without the fact they are probably half perished from sitting on the shelf for nearly 2 decades.

Unless those ebay hoses have become better in the last 3-4 years, I'd be thinking twice... They tend to get spits and fail over time (2-3 years). I had a brand new Auto88 one spring a leak after only 2 months...

Where did you source these from? Tried nissan in victoria. I basically got told off for having an import and they said there is no way they can help me. I actually said that the r32 was aussie delivered and he told me no they werent..ha ha. I hung up

I would rather get OEM can you tell me where?

Have had Auto88 silicon radiator hoses on mine for 4 years now, no issues. Seen several track outings in that time as well. Read about these problems with them leaking a couple of months after I got them and was going to change back to rubber, but haven't had a need yet.

Yep ebay noname radiator hose lasted about 2 years for me. IIRC Beer Baron used to recommend the Samco brand if you're going for silicon, but i find silicon hoses are more leak prone than rubber. Rubber just seems to grip better and therefore provide a better seal. OEM only for me for coolant hoses now.

I have read that people have been using zip ties to stop the hoses from creeping. Is it that much of an issue though. I have had similar issues with OEM hoses on other cars that I have owned. Is it really more of an issue with silicon hoses.

I'm yet to have any personal experience with leaking silicon. I've got silicon radiator hoses, so do 3 of my mates, none with any leaking problems to date. That said, where there's smoke... I still keep a close eye on mine to make sure I don't get any leaks.

Provided the silicon hoses are reinforced, doesnt need to be steel but at least with some fibre core than they will out do and perform rubber hoses. Where they are weak and prone to problems is rough hands can damage them very easily and small cuts and nics seem to easily propogate into splits. So dont use screw drivers to lever clamps on and off. Make sure they dont rub against any sharp edges during install and the hose clamps have rounded sealing edges.

When they split early in their life its usually because they were damage by screwdrivers when being installed by Barney Rubble or someone like me :( Rubber is far more ductile it seems and takes abrasion a lot better

Wow were you tapping my phone today. This is exactly what my engine builder said today.

He said that as long as the hoses are 3 ply reinforced or more there is no issue with splitting and they outlast and are more reliable than OEM on high performance engines, BUT care needs to be taken on installing them more than OEM. He said he has seen some failures with people forcing them at an angle and cutting through the inside of the hose.

Messaged the Autobahn88 hoses supplier and he said they are 4 ply, so my engine builder was happy going with them.

So am I with a full set including radiator hoses at $260.

Yeah I know the last thing you want to do is rip the engine out again for those 2 or 3 that you cant get to. Only saving grace for me is that my engine builder said he has never had a failure. so I suppose if I trust him with my whole engine rebuild, I should trust him with his opinion on hoses. Ordering Autobahn88 today. Very nervous about hitting that 'Buy Now' button. Might take some valium before I jump onto ebay.

Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.

    • lol no cats running str pipes … might put the high flow back on but I suspect it might effect my ignition timing a bit. 
    • That looks a bit like yellowing to me. If the rear bar was looking like that from rich idle, I'd ask the question, do you have a catalytic converter fitted, and fully working?
    • Oh yeah gets really bad down here. I’ll have to upgrade the heater and wind screen wipers as well for optimal performance.
