Hi guys, for a long time now ive been toying with the idea to build a drift car to hire out far a day, hopefully giving people who cant afford to build a car of their own the experience of driving a REAL drift car for more that 5 stupid laps of lala.

A few days ago I finally decided to look into the legal side of renting out my car, turns out all people have to do is sign a few forms and anyone can rent the car (so long as the tems and cond are met) and so began the build of an epic car.....

First was the choice of which car? s13? s14? r32? R33 ?????? fate decided for me by putting up for sale an R33 series 2, now unfortunatley in my excitement i forgot to take a few before shots but the car was MAGICAL,

it has miss matched paint, the battery must have exploded in the boot and left for a few years, the wing was snapped in half at some point and had repair attempts done with fiberglass, smelled like cats had lived in it and the engine refused to start. When I finally got it to fire it was running on 3 cylinders.......

what a beautiful car.......

And so with a swift kick to the nuts the project began, first was finding out why it ran like poo,

easy fix....

turns out a few coilpacks let go and the injector wiring loom had been chewed on by angry teenagers, replacement of both resulted in a purring motor

next removal of the wing and getting started on the boot, i forgot to take a before pic however Good ol simon smelled the acid and has survived just to state how awfull it really was, i can still taste the acid today, but here it is now!

not long after removal of cat pee seats and mould infected carpet took place and before i realised i should probably take some more pics the interior was burned in a pile at my yard

i then began to hide...i mean repair the rusty spots and prep for first coat, tar removal will take plaace once i know what cage will be going in.

after a while i got bored and drove to David and Kelly's shop to grab some goodies. For those of you who dont know them they run sleeka spares in adelaide, I picked out some gktech arms basically every one possible, caster camber you name it i got it! a hydro with the line kit, rack spacers and a few stickers didnt hurt

next was the planning stage, power levels! the fun stuff! I decided a modest 250rwkw would be very fun and still have the reliability to go out weekend after weekend, however im going over kill for 250 so that if needed i can bump it up to about 315 at the rears with no hassles.

with that i went out and purchased an Apexi PFC, 555cc injectors, GT35/40 that had been modified (not telling),

still on the shopping list is a cage, quick release steering wheel, high mount manifold, tial wastegate FF plenum and a 2 way diff

all the parts are on the floor and ill take photos as i start to install them, this car will hopefully be finished, tuned and track ready in one months time

Bit of a change in plans, speking to brenton from fours n more the 35/40 will just be too laggy on a 25 even with the modified rear housing so ive opted to purchase a turbo from a member here in SA, its a HKS 3037s with AM performance dump/front pipe, hopefully will be perfect for this application

Hi guys bit of an update, the r33 rental has been put on hold for a month ...... Beacuz .... I have purchaced the SECOND car fully track ready!! So guys the car IS available to rent for track days at mallala and tailem bend !!!

Its a nissan onevia with an enourmous list of mods, fully ready to drift at a super reliable 210rwkw!!! Car can also be prepped for grip events its current record is 1:22 at mallala. Will post up pics tonight when i get a chance.

The r33 build will continue over time but it has now been decided to make it a full competition car with tubed front and back, 26/30 motor, this is going to be one massive project

Sweet project. Whats the deal with the projector headlights? It would be a shame to damage them during drift hint hint. Keen to sell maybe?

Hai lol the headlights are some kind of aftermarket thing and i think they give it a more uniqe look, and would like to keep them but for the right offer i guess everything is for sale :)

Nice work so far, great idea to by the way.

I had to do the same with my car in the boot. Was the biggest pain trying to clean the rust, prep and paint, all the fumes are terrible.

Thanks mate lol id like to say its impressive but its really nothing special just yet, big plans tho ... BIG plans...

    • The R32 suffers from an instrument binnacle that is uncomfortably close to the design of a VN Commodore's. But beyond that, the layout of the rest of everything, and the materials (ie the vinyl coverings on dash, armrest, etc) are acceptable, and the patterns on the fabrics are not as blergh as those in the R33. And R33 seats are....quite unattractive. I know it's only small details there, but I reckon the R33 got worse than the 32. But the big blergh is the overall shape of the dash on the R33. It's just has that whole Maxima/Pulsar sort of look to it. Nothing special at all. Generic Nissan sedan. Whereas, at least the R32 dash/binnacle was different. Less a wide expanse of boringly curved plastic. More a "cockpit" sort of look, even if nowhere near to the degree that the A90 Supras got. R34 seats look good on their own, until you realise that they are indistinguishable from the shape and fabric on 70 other Japanese cars. And the foam bolsters on them suffer even worse than the earlier cars. Other than that I don't really have an opinion the rest of the R34 interior. I took the bits of the R34 I wanted (brakes and engine) and added them to the best external appearance Skyline in the modern era (the 32). So nyerr!
    • Can I be your first customer? I would like hard lines done for the fuel system, 8AN up and 8AN back and the underside wire wheeled and coated (brush or sprayed) with that black tar shit.
    • Speak for yourself, I love the R33 interior. 32 is blergh. I like the 34 interior too. Then you start getting much newer in most cars and they all turn back to blergh. 馃槢
    • 500-600hp into a RB is already 'sinking endless amounts of money' into an engine. Especially a 30 year old engine. Unfortunately this is the RB Game. Considering stock power (or at least stock components) will do ~360whp on 98 by simply turning up the boost on the stock gear on a RB26, that would be where I'd say the cutoff point for "sinking endless amounts of money into the engine" Cause to even do this reliably you'd probably need to replace all the bits anyway cause they're old, starting your sinking journey anyway. I reckon the least painful way is rebuilding the engine to make 50hp over stock lol. The 'plan your ownership around a rebuild' was a common saying 15 years ago.
