Stagea S1 Not Starting

Hello!

I've had my Stagea now for 2 weeks and the other day it just wouldn't start. Everything seems fine exept I have no fuelpressure. It seems there's no power reaching the pump.

Does anyone know where the fuse is? Also is there a relay? Or even better, a wiring diagram?

It's -4 fahrenheit outside so Im not really keen on pulling every fuse and checking.

-4 F sounds cold.

There is a fuse, it is under a cover on the driver's side lower dash. This is the layout:

So check the 3rd fuse and make sure it has not blown. A bit of a long shot but at least it is easy to check.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, use that the check the fuse, and if not....take another car to the shop and buy one

If the fuse is OK the best thing is to get straight into the fuel pump wiring. Open the boot remove the boot floor (a couple of 10mm nuts from memory) and you will see the fuel tank cover. Remove that too, and unplug the plug with 2 wires (fuel pump wiring, the other plug is the fuel level sender and warning light). Turn the ignition on and immediately (ie within 2-4seconds) check for 12v between the 2 terminals of the plug. If there is power there the fuel pump is not working (no fuel? pump dead? fuel line froze, I think the last one is a joke?). If there is no power there you have an issue in the ECU, relay, wiring or power supply.

But before all that, do you have an immobiliser that may have failed? or is it out of fuel? why do you think there is no fuel pressure, do you have a gauge?

I measured the current yesterday and there's 0v going to the pump. So probably, like you said, ECU, relay or wiring. Do you have any clue which one of the relays belong to the pump? Is it common for the ECU to fail?

I really dislike these kind of problems.. Especially since I have no way of getting the car to my garage.

I don't think there's a immobilizer.

I have a pressure gauge in the enginebay.

I start every sentence with "I" :-)

Hey Miltuun, -4 deg fahrenheit is like 36 degrees of frost in the "old money". You gotta get outta there man.

Did you check/replace fuse like Duncan suggested?

Did you check voltage at disconnected fuel pump connector in boot within 2 seconds? Need very long test leads (& no sparks) or two pairs of eyes for this, especially if you are on ice.

Woop woop, problem solved. A shady turbo timer installation was the problem.

It now runs smooths as ..something. I will solder it together in the morning. You guys are missing out, these cars are great on snow/ice

Good find! Personally I think turbo timers are the devil as they give car thieves an easy starting place to rip off your car. Got any pics of your Stagea in the snow???

Haven't really thought about it but you're right. Maybe I should remove it since I don't even use it..

+1 for bin turbo timer - its just something else to go wrong.
