hey guys i have hardly been driving my r33 lately its a series 1 i bought it about 6 months ago the thermo fan was working when i bought it but has since stopped and i have checked what i thought was the fuses for it etc and none are blown i also have found that the clutch squeels when taking off in first gear sometimes but doesnt crunch or grind any gears any suggestions and my powersteering pump is wineing when steering but the fluid canister is full of fluid any ideas how i could fix any of the above problems would be greatly appreciate thanks alot

Powersteering pump is probably cactus

Throwout bearing on the clutch is probably the cause of the squeal

And the thermofan on the front if the radiator is only an over temp fan. It isn't supposed to work all the time

thanks mate the radiator fan doesnt work either and the throwout bearing what is that is it going to affect the clutch etc? and ahh k so u recommend new powersteer pump is $70 cheap for a powersteer pump and will series 2 fit series 1

when you push the clutch in it moves the clutch fork which pushes the throw out bearing against the clutch pressure plate to release the clutch.

if the radiator fan isn't spinning either then 1 of 2 things is going on. either the clutch for the fan is shot, or it is siezed and the belt isn't able to spin it, which may also be part of the squeal you are getting when you take off.

I know I'm in.the wrong bit I don't know how to post question this is.as close I could get I know I'm retarded how hard is it to work it out lol but I can't .......I need to know if it's safe to drive if the clutch fan is damaged need to take sons car to get it fixed but unfortunatly he has died...

can any one help me I'm also in Tassie so local help would also be great Thanks

How far do you have to take it? If its less than a 5 minute drive then it should be fine. Even 10 mins is probably just ok, but would depend on traffic and terrain. If the weather is cool and the speed limits are high then you could go further (higher speed = more airflow through the radiator).

    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though

I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
    • Time for a modernisation, throw out the AFM, stock O2s, ECU into the e-waste bin. Rip out the cable throttle, IACV, pedal, etc. into the scrap metal bin. DBW, e-throttle, modern ECU, CANbus wideband, and the thing will drive better than when it left the factory.
    • I agree, don't go trusting those trims. As I said, first step is to put the logger away, and do the basics in diagnosis.   I spend plenty of time with data loggers. I also spend plenty of time teaching "technicians" why they need to stop using their data loggers, and learn real diagnostics.   The amount of data logs I play with would probably blow most people away. I don't just use it to diagnose. I log raw CAN data too, as a nice chunk of my job is reverse engineering what automotive manufacturers are doing.
    • I'm aware, but unless you're actually seeing the voltage the ECU is seeing and you're able to verify the sensors are actually working I find it hard to just trust STFT/LTFT. I will say, logging the ECU comes naturally to me because it's one of the lowest effort methods of diagnosis and I do similar things in my day job all the time. Staring at 20+ charts looking for something that isn't quite right isn't for everyone. NDS1 allows you to log almost everything so that's normally what I do and then sort out the data later.
