Hi guys I need to do two bits of maintenance in the interior of the car:

1. the centre console plastic surround is not fitting around the gauges / stereo, so there is a 2cm gap at the top between the dash and plastic surround - how do I get it off without breaking it, and from where?

2. I have a Trust Turbo timer that I want to fit where the std dash clock is (trust me, it is a perfect fit - that plastic screen part is the exact size of the turbo timer body). How do I remove the cowling beneath the steering wheel, and the cowling panel that the dash clock sits in?

I will try and post some pics of what I mean a bit later if it is unclear, but I think you get the jist of it

Thanks in advance

Take ashtray out, should be 2 screws to undo, take gearknob off, then the rest are just clipped on. So work your way slowly around the gearstick maybe with help of thin flathead screwdriver. Not sure if that explains it.

If the cowling panels are fitted the same way as gtst, then its just matter of remove all the screws holding it to place. So remove the bottom panel with about 5 or 6 screws, then you will see almost all the screws you need to remove. drop the steering wheel right down then you can slowly move the lot out in one go, 4 more screws holding between the top and bottom frames together.

can't show you in detail with pics as I dont have access to r32...

Awesome mate, thanks for the help and taking the time out to post a detailed reply. I've done both in my old R33 GTSt, to change to a GTR dash, and to install a new head unit.

I figured it would be the same, but the plastic looks really fragile - didn't want to try and force it and break it.

Will keep you posted, and do a DIY on the Trust turbo timer into an R32!

ok.. well i'm now giving this a try on my r32.. ashtray screws out.. done.

Plastic bit around gearstick (auto) doesn't seem to pop out at all easily though.. i don't want to break anything  On my r33 it was quite easy to get out. Just pull and "pop".

Is it the same as in R32 or is there something else that needs to be played with?

not sure about the auto... anyone else help?

er, not really Will :)

But anyhow, I got it off. Just have to pop off the centre bit surrounding the shifter (that thing above).. Then under that sort of under the ashtray, etc there are another two screws for the main surrounding.

All done.
