Well I wouldn't say I'm pro, I'd just say I've been shooting longer than most of you, but thanks all the same :)

Ok, photo is 6.5/10

I like:

you've thought about the shot.

framing is ok.

colours are nice

concept is sound.

i like placement of pole and skyline in foreground

i dont like:

youve tried to hard to either pull in colours of adjust exposure. see the halo around the wing?

could have framed better. get rid of half numberplate hole (distraction)

colour of car is to far off real colour

car could be brigter so it commands more attention.

thats my critique.

Well, 'more experienced' I should of said :P

Thank you for that! I rarely try and attempt under-exposed shots like these, but your 'don't likes' make a lot of sense :)

Thanks redline :)

Serk, take what i've said with a grain of salt. If you like something that I've said didn't work for me, keep doing it and keep refining it. at the end of the day it's about what makes you happy when you look at your finished work.

like this shot. this makes me happy. first shot of my car in ages. been avoiding shooting it since the lip got ripped off, but i reckon it looks pretty tough in this shot anyway :)

Ohh I understand that, it's just those little things that I could of fixed in post-processing that I didn't actually notice, but others did :)

EDIT: That is indeed a tough shot! Love it :P

do u just find ur models and MUA's on mayhem or look elsewhere? I like this process better than the chick in the fezza but i reckon you've got to sharp here. to much constrast especially around her mouth. If you softened this shot up about 15-20% around those areas it'd be perfect! everything else is top shelf! your picking it up so quick man!

Terry's car is a photo whore.

& it gets my approval.

I'm amazed Ian, that Matt can highlight dark wheels against the white.

Normally as most would know, black wheels look flat due to ..........

some from MM, a lot of models approach my business asking to work with me now.

The ferrari shot - we were aiming for that look. Different situations require different styles.

Beauty images like this we aim to get sharp. The goal for us in this image was to show off the MUA's make up skill with the eyes and the lips. I used a 105 macro lens at f16 so I'd be sure I would get the details needed.

If you want a good example of how different situations require a different result in the finished details head to:

Then go through the different categories.

As with all art - it is subjective.

Perhaps I need to give a brief before each posting. No one size fits all in fashion and beauty ;)

Cheers :)

Love that beauty shot. IMO, i think it's spot on. Most beauty image closeups i've seen are as you said to show off the makeup more than anything.

Loving the N1 shots. Didn't even know Terry got an N1.

I took a bunch of photo's yesterday at the Bathurst 12 Hour, these are probably my favourites of the bunch. Interested to see what you guys who know what you are doing think of them, as I have done very little photography before, and this is my first attempt at motorsport photo's. Pics were resized in photoshop, but are otherwise unedited.

love this.

the positioning of the car, and the fact you can see brake caliper....

That last shot is great Brian, nice spot to shoot from :)

Dan, I'm not saying that either shot is bad, your people stuff is better than mine, I'm just offering my 2c for feedback. all good sir. I basically just think how would I have done this. Doesn't mean 'this is how you should have done this', just a different perspective that might stumble across something that didn't occur to you.

This was at the Motor magazine Twilight Track Night last Wednesday. I forgot to bring my 70-200mm lens, so I shot this from over the pits using my 17-55mm.
