Putting on ABS

Hey

I've got a '93 gtst and its the model with no ABS.

Has anyone tried putting on the system, can it be done? if so how much did it cost and was it worth it?

Since its winter and i've only driven the car in summer so far i've quickly realized that ABS would be a nice little extra.

I don't think you can put ABS into a car that doesn't have it as it would be a part of the computer, maybe a newer computer?

This would be a nightmare. I dont think the ECU would be the issue as the ABS would no doubt have its own computer. The nightmare would be getting the parts together and then fitting them... Probably easier to sell your car and buy one with ABS already.

yep agree with Above^^ ABS run a Seperate Computer aswell as ABS pumps and lines and all this sensors on each wheel along as another dash one that flashes ABS etc....

probably very expensive and a time consuming job

A good driver with good foot control is better than ADS anyway. Whilst its useful for Joe Blow with poor driving skills, a good driver would be quicker around a track without ABS than with it.

Under the bonnet, in the right rear corner (looking from the front) is the ABS stuff. It looks obvious if you have ever looked under a non-abs bonnet before.

my old 33 didnt have ABS

was hard to get used to at first but soon it was ok, just be careful in the wet you'll lock up a lot easier

yeah i know hehe in the wet good tires and ABS would be a big help.

I have neither! Thats why i drive so slow..anything can take me in the wet.

On the track ABS would be a minus though but on the road it just peace of mind.

R33 has good brakes and it takes a good hammering to get the tires locked up on dry road...better just to give it a good squeez.
