-Why Does My Speedo Bounce And Flick Around?

S2 33, so the speedo is digital not cable right? Sounds like a bad solder joint in the dash but I would check all the wires and plugs underneath the car first.

The encoders can fill up with oil if the seal on the drive leaks.

This can cause the needle to jump around.

went to a shop to replace the exhuast manifold studs, came back from the shop while I was overseas, its been a while since I left, after some time has since passed I don't think I can take it back to those rip off merchants and have them fix what they screwed up without it costing me more money. So if that changed things, let me know what to check first. I don't know what the encoders look like or where they are, so some further information would be awsome. I'll do some searching aswell, hopefully I can get out of this without it costing me a fortune. Finding out they boroke something else would really suck.

with my previous car it was because the speedo cable was stretched

ot, check the gear in the gearbox to make sure nothing has gone wrong there.

if not, next will be cable or wiring/sensor9depending on drive type).

last, the speedo itself.
