Where did you get your machine work done? They didn't use a torque plate for bore honing?

My mate at JDM Garage is doing the engine rebuild.

In regards to the torque plate, its a bit over my head but after some discussions involving the actual benefits of a torque plate we decided not to go with it. The theories were quite interesting..

Seeing the Nitto gear on display at the JEM tech night was good, having them explained etc was awesome! Such quality :woot:

Yeah I saw pics from your NSW JEM meet. Was very jelly

Really good motivation for ya ;)

Looking good tony! When she due back on the road?

Yeah this i would like to know! Should be good

I estimate that the engine will be finished with everything back in the car in about a month.

Then another month sorting out the VIV (As the car was written off) and Road Worthy Certificate.

We might have some issues with the engine gaskets. As we were supplied with a ACL Rb25det gasket kit not a neo one. Even though we were assured it would fit.

I already know the plenum gasket is different, among a few other things as well.

Anyone know where to get them quicksmart? Apart from getting them via Nissan or Japan?

I can get a full genuine Neo engine gasket kit from Amayama for ~$350. But its a 3 week wait and I would get a whole bunch of other gaskets I don't need.

Edit: Just emailed Andrew from Kudos to help me out

I was going to say Nitto mentioned they had them in stock at that Tech night but i assume you would pay accordingly....

A complete Neo engine gasket kit? That's interesting, didn't know they made them :(

I got the Nitto Headgasket though

In any case getting a genuine Nissan gasket kit off Andrew @ Kudos motorsports. So props too him!

Also these just arrived today

I will ask and will post when he gets back to me

In the mean time, just out of interest

Weight of:

Nitto rod & Cp piston = 944.4grams

Stock Neo rod & Piston = 1134 grams

So a saving of about 1.14kg in the engine by using these parts

Also have received my brae manifold, turbo housing and dump pipe all HPC coated. Only a one week turnaround:

For those that are interested we also decided to lay the "torque plate" theory to the test as we had some spare time. We torqued the head down to 80ftb using arp head stud, flipped the block over and measured the bores. No distortion was present and the bore gauge still read 0.
